\n

Position Summary

\n

The Production Planner is responsible for analyzing Material Requirements Planning (MRP) outputs and executing production planning activities to support the efficient flow of materials and assets throughout manufacturing operations. This role ensures production orders are released on time, material shortages are proactively managed, and inventory and production data are maintained accurately to support customer and business requirements.

\n

The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, experience with production planning and MRP systems, and the ability to work effectively across multiple departments in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

\n


\n

Production Planning & MRP Management

\n

    \n
  • Analyze MRP outputs and take appropriate action on system-generated planning signals.
  • \n

  • Review planned production orders and ensure timely release based on production requirements and material availability.
  • \n

  • Release production orders in accordance with production schedules and inventory status.
  • \n

  • Monitor MRP recommendations for manufactured items and ensure prompt resolution of action items.
  • \n

  • Maintain planning parameters and item master data to support accurate system planning.
  • \n

  • Firm planned production orders when necessary to support capacity balancing and production efficiency.
  • \n

Production Order Administration

\n

    \n
  • Monitor and report aging production orders within Work-In-Process (WIP).
  • \n

  • Maintain and update open production orders, including order revisions and redlines as required.
  • \n

  • Verify accuracy and completeness of production order documentation prior to release for kitting activities.
  • \n

  • Monitor secondary material issues to WIP and investigate discrepancies.
  • \n

  • Track and report on-time completion performance for SRU and LRU production requirements.
  • \n

Inventory & Shortage Management

\n

    \n
  • Monitor and report material shortages impacting production order release and WIP performance.
  • \n

  • Prioritize material receipts necessary to support production schedules and customer commitments.
  • \n

  • Support inventory accuracy initiatives, including cycle counts and reconciliation activities.
  • \n

  • Participate in WIP floor audits and inventory validation activities.
  • \n

  • Coordinate kit or piece-part shipments to support outside production orders as required.
  • \n

Cross-Functional Collaboration

\n

    \n
  • Participate in daily shortage reviews and manufacturing coordination meetings.
  • \n

  • Work closely with Manufacturing, Procurement, Program Management, Engineering, Scheduling, and Warehouse teams to resolve production constraints.
  • \n

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on enhancing planning, inventory management, and manufacturing performance.
  • \n

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
  • \n

Authority and Decision-Making Responsibilities

\n

    \n
  • Execute all MRP-generated actions, including production order releases, order reschedules, and order cancellations.
  • \n

  • Maintain and revise production orders as necessary.
  • \n

  • Firm-plan production orders to support capacity leveling.
  • \n

  • Maintain planning and item ordering data within the ERP/MRP system.
  • \n

  • Prioritize material receipts to support manufacturing schedules.
  • \n

  • Coordinate the shipment of materials to support outside production requirements.
  • \n

Required Qualifications

\n

    \n
  • Associate degree in Supply Chain, Business, Manufacturing, Operations, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • \n

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in production planning, materials planning, supply chain, or manufacturing operations.
  • \n

  • Experience working with ERP/MRP systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • \n

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • \n

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • \n

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • \n

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • \n

Preferred Qualifications

\n

    \n
  • Experience working with BAAN, LN, SAP, Oracle, or other ERP systems.
  • \n

  • Background in aerospace, defense, electronics manufacturing, or a highly regulated production environment.
  • \n

  • Knowledge of inventory control, forecasting, capacity planning, and lean manufacturing principles.
  • \n
