Job DescriptionDescription:
The Role and Responsibilities
As a Tool Maintenance Specialist, you support the Production and Preventative Maintenance departments by assisting the production team in performing a variety of duties essential to maintaining and optimizing tooling operations. Your meticulous attention to detail, technical expertise, and proactive approach plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our manufacturing processes. By rework, regrind, and the manufacture of new tooling and spare parts along with inspecting tooling, managing inventory, and addressing issues promptly, you help maintain the efficiency and quality of our production. Your ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with other team members ensures that any challenges are quickly resolved, preventing disruptions in the manufacturing process. Additionally, your commitment to continuous improvement and adherence to safety protocols contributes to a safe and productive work environment. By proactively seeking ways to enhance tooling operations, you support our goal of delivering high-quality products to our customers on time.
Your Key Areas of Impact
Tooling: You process routine tooling to drawing specifications using surface grinders, rotary grinders, milling and lathes (automatic and semiautomatic). Additionally, you inspect incoming parts against specifications using micrometers, calipers, Diatest, and Keyence measuring equipment. This ensures that all tools and spare parts are in optimal condition, contributing to the efficiency and quality of the production process.
Inventory Management and Optimization: Working with the inventory team, you return good, refurbished tools and keep track of discarded damaged tooling. Your efforts to look for ways to improve and optimize the current tooling regrind operation help maintain a well-organized and efficient inventory system, reducing downtime and increasing productivity.
Trial Part Management: You keep trial parts separated from production-ready parts, ensuring clarity and organization in the production process. This attention to detail helps prevent mix-ups and maintains the integrity of the production workflow.
Machining and Fabrication Support: Your preferred machining and fabrication capabilities support operations by providing the necessary technical expertise to handle various tasks. This versatility enhances the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the production team.
Issue Escalation and Communication: You escalate any issues that cannot be resolved to the Manufacturing Maintenance and Technical Director and communicate effectively verbally and through email. This ensures that all problems are addressed promptly and that there is clear communication within the team.
Safety and Compliance: Adhering to all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements and following all safety processes and protocols is essential. Your commitment to safety helps maintain a secure working environment for everyone.
Requirements:
You've received your High School Diploma or equivalent and have at least one (1) year of machine shop/tool room experience, with a preference for a minimum of two (2) years in a manufacturing work environment. Your background in high-volume, tight-tolerance process manufacturing environments equips you with the skills necessary for this role.
