Overview:
Western Environmental is seeking an experienced and CETA-certified Cleanroom Testing Technician to join our growing Controlled Environment Testing Team. This position is ideal for someone with cleanroom testing experience looking to grow within a specialized and mission-critical industry that serves the controlled environment industry.
About the Role:
You will be responsible for the certification, performance testing, and troubleshooting of cleanrooms, biological safety cabinets, fume hoods, and related equipment. As a field-based technician, you will travel to customer sites, including overnight stays and act as a technical expert and trusted advisor to ensure compliance with ISO 14644, USP <797>/<800>, and other applicable standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform testing of controlled environments per ISO 14644, USP 797/800, ISO 17025, and relevant guidelines
- Execute tests for temperature, humidity, airflow, light, sound, HEPA filter integrity, particle counts, pressure differentials, fume hoods, and bio-safety cabinets
- Troubleshoot performance issues and recommend corrective actions
- Interface directly with clients and deliver results with high attention to detail
- Complete digital and written reports for documentation of work performed
- Coordinate with the service manager and project managers to plan and execute field work
- Undergo 6-18 months of company training to become an ISO 17025 accredited technician
- Maintain calibration of instruments and follow all 17025 procedures
- Provide mentorship or training to entry-level technicians as needed
Qualifications:
- CETA National Board of Testing (CNBT) Certification required (Fume Hood, Cleanroom Testing, Sterile Compounding) Must possess one certification
- Minimum 2 years of experience performing cleanroom testing and equipment certification
- Familiarity with ISO 14644, USP <797>, USP <800>, and CETA CAGs
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High level of professionalism and customer service
- Valid drivers license and willingness to travel regularly (up to 60% including overnights)
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. and work on ladders or in PPE as required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Additional certifications (NEBB, NSF, etc.) a plus
- Technical background in HVAC, life sciences, or environmental testing
- Experience in metrology or laboratory support environments
