We are seeking an experienced Senior Public Health Project Manager to lead and oversee public health workforce and implementation projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in public health program management and direct experience supervising or managing staff placed within local and county health departments. This position plays a critical role in coordinating with Human Resources to recruit and deploy qualified public health personnel, managing field operations, supervising embedded staff, and ensuring alignment with contract deliverables, budgets, and timelines.

Project Management & Leadership
- Lead the planning, coordination, and oversight of public health projects focused on staffing support for local and county health departments.
- Supervise day-to-day activities of assigned staff embedded within health departments, ensuring productivity, quality, and alignment with project goals.
- Serve as the primary liaison between Peers and Partners and local/county health departments, resolving issues and facilitating collaboration.
- Track performance metrics and ensure contractual deliverables are met on time and within budget.
Human Resources Coordination
- Work in close partnership with HR to support rapid recruitment, onboarding, and deployment of public health personnel.
- Assist in developing position descriptions, reviewing applications, interviewing candidates, and making hiring recommendations.
- Provide ongoing guidance and performance management for deployed staff, ensuring alignment with both Peers standards and host department needs.
Operations & Budget Oversight
- Oversee project budgets and expenditures in accordance with internal policies and funding requirements.
- Monitor and report on project progress, fiscal health, and staffing outcomes to internal leadership and external stakeholders.
- Identify areas for process improvement and implement strategies to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with leaders and administrators at local and county health departments.
- Represent Peers and Partners at meetings, site visits, and collaborative planning sessions.
- Provide technical assistance and capacity-building support to local health department personnel and community partners as needed.
Local Travel & Field Oversight
- Conduct regular site visits to local and county health departments to assess staff performance, support project execution, and troubleshoot challenges.
- Ensure compliance with worksite protocols, public health guidance, and partner expectations.
Qualifications
Required:
- Masters degree in Public Health, Health Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience managing public health programs, including direct supervision of staff embedded in or deployed to local and/or county health departments.
- Proven track record of successfully overseeing multidisciplinary teams and complex programmatic initiatives.
- Experience working in partnership with governmental public health agencies at the local or county level.
- Strong project management, budgeting, and personnel supervision skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to travel locally up to 25% of the time.
Preferred:
- PMP certification or formal project management training.
- Experience supporting grant-funded public health workforce initiatives.
- Familiarity with governmental hiring protocols or civil service processes.
- Background in health equity, community health, or emergency preparedness initiatives.
