ABOUT THE POSITION
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Legal Assistant with at least 3-5 years of Nevada litigation experience to join our Litigation Practice Group in our Reno, Nevada office. This is a full-time, in-office, hourly Monday–Friday position. In this role, you will provide high-quality administrative support to litigation attorneys, professionals, clients, and others outside your group as needed to ensure the smooth operation of litigation matters. You will be expected to maintain a positive and high level of professionalism and confidentiality in all aspects of your work.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage court filings, including e-filing in state (including justice court) and federal courts for multiple attorneys with fast-paced litigation practices.
- Prepare, format, and proofread correspondence, pleadings, motions, subpoenas, discovery responses, and other legal documents.
- Maintain case files, ensuring all documents are properly organized and up to date.
- Schedule depositions, hearings, and client meetings, coordinating with courts and opposing counsel as needed.
- Monitor case deadlines and ensure timely filings.
- Manage preparation and service of landlord/tenant notices.
- Coordinate and communicate with clients, government agencies, and opposing counsel.
- Maintain, organize, and manage attorney calendars, schedule meetings, hearings, and regulatory submissions.
- Support attorneys in preparing for hearings and trials.
- Assist in preparing trial materials, including exhibits and witness lists.
- Conduct basic research and assist with document review as needed.
- Provide general office support, including answering phones, managing mail, and greeting clients.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent AND at least three years of recent successful relevant experience as a Legal Assistant, Legal Secretary or Paralegal in Nevada.
- Familiarity with Nevada and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and local court rules and procedures.
- Knowledge of electronic filing systems and procedures in Nevada state and federal courts.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Great attention to detail.
- Strong knowledge of legal terminology and procedures.
- Cooperative skills to work independently with the ability to work and collaborate effectively with teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), legal research platforms, and legal practice management software including LMS, CompuLaw, and SharePoint.
- The ideal candidate has a keen understanding of litigation practice in Nevada courts, strong organizational and time management skills, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- This is an in-office position.
- Ability to sit for extended periods.
