Job DescriptionOverview

We are seeking a dedicated Desktop Support Technician to provide high‑quality technical support within a fast‑paced hospital environment. This role supports clinical and administrative staff, ensuring that all Windows‑based systems, devices, and applications remain fully operational to support patient care and hospital operations.

Key ResponsibilitiesEnd‑User Support

  • Provide onsite and remote technical support for hospital staff, including clinicians, nurses, administrative personnel, and departmental teams.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Windows 10/11 desktops, laptops, thin clients, printers, scanners, and other clinical workstation devices.
  • Support EMR/EHR workstation performance (Epic, Cerner, Meditech, etc.) and clinical application accessibility.
  • Maintain excellent communication and customer service while assisting users in high‑pressure, time‑sensitive clinical environments.

Windows Environment & System Administration

  • Install, configure, update, and maintain Windows‑based endpoints across clinical floors, patient care areas, labs, and administrative spaces.
  • Support Active Directory tasks including password resets, account unlocks, security group updates, and workstation joins.
  • Assist with patching, imaging, and software deployment using enterprise tools (SCCM, Intune, MDT, or similar).

Hospital Technology & Device Support

  • Support critical hospital devices including WOWs (Workstations on Wheels), badge readers, barcode scanners, label printers, medication dispensing workstation PCs, and telehealth equipment.
  • Participate in equipment rollouts, device refreshes, workstation moves, and hardware upgrades across clinical areas.
  • Ensure HIPAA‑aligned security practices when handling devices, data, and user credentials.

Networking & Connectivity

  • Troubleshoot network connectivity issues including wired ports, wireless connectivity, VLAN issues, and device authentication.
  • Collaborate with the Network Team to escalate switching, routing, wireless, or device registration issues.

Incident, Asset & Ticket Management

  • Use the hospital’s ITSM/ticketing system to document incidents, track progress, and close requests according to SLAs.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of desktops, laptops, peripherals, and clinical support devices.
  • Follow established ITIL processes to support change management and problem resolution.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of desktop support or technical support experience, preferably in a healthcare or highly regulated environment.
  • Strong proficiency with Windows 10/11, Microsoft 365, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Hands‑on experience with imaging, hardware troubleshooting, and peripheral repair.
  • Working knowledge of Active Directory, basic networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP), and remote support tools.
  • Ability to support clinical-specific equipment such as WOWs, scanners, and badge‑access devices.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to support end users in a fast‑paced, mission‑critical environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting EMR/EHR systems (Epic, Cerner, Meditech, etc.).
  • Experience in a hospital, clinical, or healthcare IT setting.
  • Familiarity with SCCM, Intune, or similar management platforms.
  • A+, Network+, or Microsoft certifications (MCSA/Microsoft 365/Modern Desktop) are a plus.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Washington, DC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
