*Prior/current law firm/legal industry experience is required!

Summary:

The Knowledge Manager will play a crucial role in the firm by developing, implementing, and maintaining systems and processes to capture, organize, share, and leverage the firm's collective knowledge and expertise. This individual will aim to enhance efficiency, improve client service, and support the firm's strategic goals by ensuring that the right knowledge is available to the right people at the right time. The Knowledge Manager will collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and other professional staff across various practice groups and administrative departments.

Responsibilities:

  • Knowledge Strategy and Development:
    • Develop and execute the firm's knowledge management strategy in alignment with its overall business objectives.
    • Identify knowledge needs and gaps within different practice groups and develop plans to address them.
    • Establish frameworks and taxonomies for organizing and categorizing legal knowledge assets.
    • Promote a culture of knowledge sharing and collaboration across the firm.
  • Content Management:
    • Oversee the collection, organization, and maintenance of legal precedents, templates, practice notes, research materials, and other know-how.
    • Ensure the accuracy, currency, and accessibility of knowledge assets within the firm's knowledge management systems.
    • Develop and implement processes for the creation, review, and updating of knowledge content.
    • Manage the firm's knowledge management platforms (e.g., document management systems, intranet, knowledge portals).
  • Technology and Innovation:
    • Evaluate and implement technology solutions to support knowledge management initiatives, including AI-powered tools, document automation, and search functionalities.
    • Collaborate with the IT department to ensure the effective integration and utilization of knowledge management systems.
    • Stay abreast of new technologies and trends in knowledge management and legal tech.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Continuously evaluate and refine knowledge management processes and systems to enhance efficiency and user experience.
    • Identify and implement best practices in knowledge management within the legal industry.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in knowledge management within a law firm environment is required.
  • Strong understanding of legal practice, terminology, and workflows.
  • Experience with document management systems (e.g., iManage, NetDocuments), content management systems, and other knowledge management technologies.
  • Familiarity with legal research databases (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis).
  • Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Proven ability to develop and deliver training programs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in the field of knowledge management.
