Job Description
Job Description
The General Manager owns the overall performance of one restaurant, including sales, profitability, team performance, operational execution, and the guest experience.
The GM is accountable for operating a restaurant that is noticeably cleaner, better staffed, and better run than the competition. This person leads from the front, develops a strong management team, maintains Jersey Mike's brand and food-safety standards, and ensures the restaurant consistently meets its financial and operational goals.
This is a hands-on leadership role. The General Manager is expected to be present during key operating periods, work alongside the team when needed, address problems promptly, and build a restaurant that can operate consistently without constant involvement from the District Manager.
Qualifications
· At least two years of restaurant management experience, preferably in quick-service or fast-casual restaurants.
· Previous General Manager, Assistant General Manager, or comparable restaurant leadership experience preferred.
· Demonstrated experience recruiting, scheduling, coaching, and developing restaurant employees.
· Proven ability to manage restaurant financial performance, including sales, labor, food cost, inventory, and other controllable expenses.
· Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to provide clear direction, hold employees accountable, and maintain a positive team environment.
· Comfortable using point-of-sale, scheduling, payroll, inventory, training, customer-feedback, and reporting systems.
· ServSafe Manager certification or willingness to obtain it within the required timeframe.
· Must be at least 18 years old and have availability based on the operating needs of the restaurant.
Physical and Scheduling Requirements
· Ability to stand and move throughout the restaurant for extended periods.
· Ability to bend, reach, lift, carry, and perform normal restaurant operating duties.
· Ability to lift approximately 30 pounds and safely operate required restaurant equipment after training.
· Flexible availability, including mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak business periods.
· The General Manager's schedule should reflect the needs of the restaurant and may change based on staffing, sales patterns, training needs, and operating conditions.
