Position Summary: The Youth Programs and Impact Member will support the Deputy Director of Kid Power in ensuring high-quality youth programs, organizational development, and strategic initiatives. This role provides hands-on experience in nonprofit management, youth program coordination, and administrative operations. The Member will gain exposure to grant compliance, program evaluation, and strategic planning while supporting the organizations mission to support young people through education, mentorship, and community engagement. Founded in 2002, Kid Power is a community-rooted nonprofit that empowers over 1,000 youth annually across Washington, DC. With an annual budget of $2.2 million, our evidence-based programs focus on academic confidence, social-emotional wellness, and civic leadership. Schedule: This full-time position requires 40 hours per week during Kid Power Program Operations, with a standard schedule of Monday through Friday, 10 AM - 6 PM. As a hybrid role, you will work a minimum of 1-2 days per week in person, with additional in-person community activities as needed to fulfill your responsibilities. This flexible schedule allows you to immerse yourself in both office and community environments, ensuring you can make a meaningful impact.
This is a position with a service term of up to one year. The service term will end on August 31st, 2026.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Support & Development
- Assist in researching and developing best practices in youth development programming, with a focus on building systems that strengthen program quality and consistency.
- Support the coordination, documentation, and refinement of program activities, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and service standards.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of data systems that track program impact and effectiveness.
- Provide administrative and logistical support for training, workshops, and community events, including developing systems for materials, scheduling, and follow-up.
Operations & Grant Compliance
- Assist in creating and maintaining systems to track grant compliance requirements and compile reports in a timely and accurate manner.
- Support the review, organization, and continuous improvement of programmatic documentation for reporting and auditing purposes.
- Participate in team meetings by preparing summaries, documenting action steps, and supporting follow-through to ensure effective implementation of decisions.
Strategic & External Engagement
- Research trends in education, mentoring, and youth services to inform long-term planning and continuous program improvement.
- Assist with drafting and systematizing materials for presentations, reports, and communications to ensure consistency and accessibility.
- Support partnership and outreach efforts by maintaining partner databases, coordinating meetings, and strengthening systems for external engagement.
Other Administrative Duties
- Collaborate with cross-departmental teams to improve organizational systems, processes, and communication.
- Provide occasional support for development tasks to strengthen organizational sustainability.
- Attend and support special events (family engagement events, fundraisers, etc.), contributing to consistent systems for event planning and execution.
- Participate regularly in Kid Power meetings to stay informed, share input, and contribute to building effective organizational systems.
Skills and Qualifications
- Passionate about Youth Development
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work flexible hours (evening and occasional weekends)
- Proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite
- Organized, self-motivated, and solution-oriented
- Willingness to undergo required background clearances for serving with AmeriCorps
