Job DescriptionKeep Critical Equipment Running Across New Bedford

You start your day at 7:30am in New Bedford, MA with a thorough walk-around of your service truck, logging any maintenance needs in the DVIR before heading out. The first stop is a customer site where a self-contained compactor is tripping a breaker. You verify lockout/tagout, trace the fault through the 480v circuit, and restore uptime. After lunch, you’re back at the shop fabricating a bracket and welding mild steel to prep a Mini Mac unit for install. Before 5:00pm, you’ve wrapped up, documented your work, and lined up parts for tomorrow’s VIP compactor call.

Role: Full-time, hands-on field and shop service position maintaining and repairing waste compaction equipment.

• Location: New Bedford, MA
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30am–5:00pm (approx. 45 hours/week) with occasional rotating Saturdays
• Compensation: $32–$36 per hour

What You’ll Tackle

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair compactors at customer sites and in the shop
• Complete daily pre-trip inspections and record/communicate service truck issues via DVIR
• Adhere to all safety protocols with strict lockout/tagout in a high-risk environment
• Service hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems on Self-Contained units, VIPs, Mini Macs, and related equipment
• Interface professionally with customers, vendors, and your internal team
• Promote and maintain a safe, positive work atmosphere

What You Bring

• At least 4 years of experience repairing compactors or similar industrial equipment
• Comfort working ~45 hours/week Monday–Friday, plus occasional rotating Saturdays
• Proficiency with high-voltage systems: 208v, 460/480v, and 120v
• Welding/fabrication skills strongly preferred (Stick and MIG on mild steel; safe oxy-acetylene torch use)
• Clean driver’s license and DOT permit (26,000 lbs and under)
• Ability to read electrical diagrams is a plus
• Electrical or compactor repair certifications are a plus
• Personal tool set required for daily work

Physical Demands

• Lift up to 50 lbs
• Work in varying environments and weather conditions
• Perform strenuous tasks, including heavy lifting, pushing, and pulling
• Operate in both mobile field settings and shop environments
