About the Position:

The Grounds and Maintenance Specialist performs a variety of manual labor, groundskeeping, and maintenance tasks to ensure the upkeep, safety, and beauty of cemetery grounds and facilities. This position involves working independently or with a team and using appropriate safety procedures and equipment while performing duties related to burials, monuments, landscaping, and general property maintenance.

Essential Job Functions:

• Perform groundskeeping tasks such as mowing, trimming, edging, raking, weeding, planting, and tree/shrub maintenance.
• Perform maintenance, repair, and construction of cemetery facilities and grounds.
• Assist with burial, entombment, and interment operations, and setting up equipment.
• Load, unload, and transport equipment and materials, including headstones and groundskeeping supplies.
• Operate and maintain tools and equipment such as mowers, trimmers, chainsaws, tractors, dump trucks, and more.
• Perform routine maintenance on equipment (cleaning, oiling, lubricating, etc.) and report any necessary repairs.
• Set up and break down tents, chairs, and artificial turf for funeral services.
• Ensure work areas, tools, and storage spaces are clean, organized, and safe.
• Follow all safety protocols, use appropriate protective equipment, and adhere to company policies.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, hours worked, and supplies used.
• Perform light housekeeping duties, such as litter collection and general tidying.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions, with exposure to dust, pollen, noise, and other environmental factors.

Compensation:

• Starting at $16-18/hr, negotiable based upon experience

Requirements:

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs individually and more with assistance.
• Physical strength, agility, and endurance for bending, squatting, kneeling, and prolonged standing/walking.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• Ability to operate various groundskeeping tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
• Willingness to learn, follow instructions, and accept feedback.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1 year of grounds maintenance or related experience.
