Position: Design and Development Engineer
Location: Westminster, MD
Salary: $85,000 - $95,000/year
US Citizenship Required!
This is an on-site position (not remote or hybrid)
Job Overview:
The Design and Development Engineer will collaborate with the engineering teams and operations to design, develop, and qualify products according to customer specifications and documentation requirements in line with project timing and budgets.
Job Responsibilities of the Design Engineer position:
- Conducts research and development into parts, materials, and assembly techniques.
- Collaborates with the engineering teams and technicians to execute and deliver existing and new products.
- Leads all development phases including design, prototyping, validation, and pilot production.
- Prepares and presents internal and customer facing preliminary and critical design reviews.
- Plans, develops, and executes Design of Experiment (DOE) for fabrication and testing of products.
- Works closely with engineering and operations teams to determine battery design and mechanical characteristics.
- Develops processes/tooling for pilot scale manufacturing.
- Coordinates and executes product development trials.
- Summarizes and presents respective results, with conclusions, and recommendations.
- Develops assembly and process specifications, along with other engineering documents.
- Performs root cause analysis.
Qualifications and Requirements for the Design Engineer position:
- BS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical or related Science or Engineering discipline
- 3 - 5 years’ experience in R&D, or Product Development
- Computer skills in Microsoft Office applications
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate in a team environment.
- Self-motivated and hands-on.
- Detail oriented.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Understanding of contract data requirements list (CDRL).
- Proficient in solving engineering problems through analysis, computational modelling, and building/testing of prototypes.
