Job Description Position: Sheetmetal Mechanic 1st Class
Job Location: Pascagoula, MS
Trade Team Branch: Mobile, AL
Rate of Pay: $38.00 per hour, depending on level of experience / Per diem available for those who qualify
DESCRIPTION: Trade Team USA is seeking experienced 1st Class Sheetmetal Mechanics for an opportunity in Pascagoula, MS. The position is expected to have an initial duration of one year, with a start date as soon as possible.
REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Minimum of 4 years of sheet metal experience OR related craft experience in Joiner, shipfitting, or carpentry
  2. Must be able to fabricate and install sheet metal components and systems.
  3. Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
  4. Must have strong mathematical skills applicable to shop, layout, and fabrication work.
  5. Must be able to accurately measure, cut, form, fit, and assemble sheet metal components.
  6. Must be able to perform assigned work while maintaining required safety and quality standards.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Experience setting up and operating sheet metal fabrication equipment, including Brakes & Shears
  2. Ability to successfully pass a sheet metal skills assessment.
  3. Experience reading and interpreting marine blueprints.
  4. Ability to work from both standard and metric measurements and specifications.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Plan and lay out sheet metal fabrication and installation work from blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  2. Fabricate, assemble, and install sheet metal products and systems.
  3. Fabricate and install ductwork and ventilation systems.
  4. Fabricate and install components associated with main engine exhaust systems.
  5. Fabricate metal containers and other sheet metal assemblies.
  6. Fabricate and install instrumentation panels.
  7. Measure, mark, cut, form, bend, fit, and assemble sheet metal components.
  8. Apply shop mathematics to determine dimensions, measurements, angles, and material requirements.
  9. Set up and operate appropriate sheet metal tools and equipment as required.
  10. Verify dimensions and fit-up to ensure components meet applicable drawings and specifications.
  11. Read and interpret standard and metric measurements.
  12. Maintain required quality standards throughout fabrication and installation.
  13. Follow all applicable shipyard and company safety procedures.
  14. Perform additional sheet metal duties as required by production and project needs.
