We are seeking a Technical Cybersecurity Analyst with 4+ years of professional experience specializing in malware, ransomware, and phishing kit analysis. This role requires a highly hands-on practitioner capable of moving beyond surface-level detection to deliver actionable, intelligence-driven insights that inform real-world defensive strategies. The ideal candidate possesses a strong technical foundation, is proficient in multiple programming languages, and has deep experience working across multiple operating systems, including Windows, Linux, and macOS, as both attacker and defender environments. The analyst is comfortable reverse engineering malicious code, dissecting full attack chains, and identifying adversary techniques, tactics, and procedures (TTPs). Success in this role also requires the ability to clearly communicate technical findings and elevate team maturity through reporting, presentations, and technical mentorship.
What will you do in this role?
- Initiate, coordinate, and conduct data collection and research using all the tools and
applications as well as proactive open-source information - Gather, analyze, and evaluate information from a variety of sources
- Determine the significance and reliability of incoming information
- Establish and maintain intelligence records and files
- Produce a finished product for dissemination
- Monitor initiative output for substantive content, quality, and value through peer report
review - Aggregation of data into appropriate organization systems, and datasets
- Monitor the capabilities of existing analytical tools and technologies; evaluate and
recommend new technologies as appropriate - Identify credible, new intelligence and subject matter resources relative to current and
emerging threats - Identify internal knowledge gaps and propose new solutions or tools to address
- Identify and coordinate cases for cross-sector collaboration
- Liaison with NCFTA industry partners, co-located law enforcement, and subject matter
experts via briefings, email, conference calls, private listservs, and quarterly and/or
annual conferences - Develop and manage relationships with partners and peers in order to strategically seek
correlative data across all programs - Monitor and report on progress of NCFTA lead initiatives to partners
- Schedule and facilitate program and partner meetings
- Support Team Leader in the growth of new initiatives by identifying gaps and knowledge
of partner needs - Assume leadership role for training events to include focus group meetings, conferences,
presentations - Mentor and train less experienced team members/student interns including ad-hoc
training courses focused on technical threat and malware analysis - Maintain relationships with partners and peers in order to strategically seek correlative
data across all programs - Maintain regular and predictable attendance
- Maintain a thorough understanding of the industry and knowledge in identifying credible,
new intelligence and subject matter resources relative to current and emerging threats - Communicates with staff and partners to transfer industry knowledge to others
- Meet deadlines, complete tasks, and respond to partner needs with minimal oversight
- Lead others in a group effort and adapt to changing needs and approaches
- Foster an environment that is open and inclusive and treats all employees and partners
with respect - All other duties assigned by the Program Manager or designee
You will need to have:
- Bachelors degree or higher or full-time equivalent professional or military experience
- Four (4) or more years of experience in areas including but not limited to political science,
criminal justice, or finance - Exhibits mastered proficiency as NCFTA Intelligence Analyst II through evaluation or fulltime equivalency in similar analyst position (INTERNAL ONLY)
- Minimum of 18 months with NCFTA with sustainable leadership and dedication to NCFTA
focus and mission (INTERNAL ONLY) - Able to communicate and support strategic implementation of organizational mission, core
values, and goals - Working knowledge of research methodologies and analytical and problem-solving skills
to execute job duties - Demonstrate working knowledge and understanding all applications and tools available
to perform the job and uses these resources effectively - Effective communication in both oral and written form to engage all stakeholders
- Ability to develop strong, collaborative relationships with staff and partners
- Excellent organizational and critical thinking skills
- Exhibit a detail-oriented work ethic and the utmost professionalism when respectfully
interacting with peers, staff, and partners - Engaging personality supported by inquisitive, analytical, problem-solving mind
