You Will Be
- The Guardian of Quality: You are the ambassador of premium protein, ensuring that every item on our shelves meets the highest standards for freshness, safety, and visual appeal.
- The Technical Logistics Expert: You master the "front-of-house" operations, from professional meat-wrapping machinery to precision scale management and barcoding accuracy.
- The Hospitality Guide: You provide proactive "wayfinding" and expert product recommendations, helping our neighbors select the best cuts for their families.
What You Will Do (Entry Level 1 - Core Responsibilities)
- Case Merchandising: Maintain full, attractive self-service cases through frequent stocking and organized product arrangement.
- Meticulous Rotation: Execute "First-In-First-Out" (FIFO) protocols; cull items nearing expiration to guarantee peak freshness and Cold Chain integrity.
- Sterile Sanitation: Perform high-frequency cleaning of display glass, shelving, and high-touch surfaces to maintain a pristine storefront.
- Guest Wayfinding: Actively assist guests in locating specific cuts or products and offer general information on department offerings.
- Department Support: Assist in the labeling and pricing of pre-packaged goods and maintain the organization of the walk-in cooler and freezers, as assigned.
Advanced Responsibilities (Specialist Level 2 & Lead Level 3)
Internal promotions to these levels are based on operational need. Candidates with prior comparable experience may be identified for these tracks.
- Specialist (Level 2): Technical Operations. Masters the operation of meat-wrapping machinery and precision scales. Assists in receiving freight, verifying physical counts against invoices, and staging product for production.
- Lead (Level 3): Floor Leadership. Coordinates the real-time flow between the processing room and the sales floor. Ensures zero-variance accuracy on specialized custom orders and serves as a technical mentor for junior staff.
Qualifications
- Experience: None required for Level 1; we are a "Teaching Store."
- Age Requirement: 18+ Years Old (Required for environmental safety in the meat processing room where hazardous equipment is used).
- Certifications: Ability to obtain a valid Alaska Food Workers Card within 30 days of employment.
Physical Requirements & Environment
- Cold Exposure: Ability to remain productive in refrigerated environments (35°ree;F to 45°ree;F) for the duration of a shift.
- Dynamic Mobility: Ability to stand for a 4–8 hour shift, lift up to 30 lbs, and navigate walk-in coolers and freezers.
- Visual Accuracy: Ability to read small text, expiration dates, barcodes, and digital screens with 100% precision.
- Sensory Awareness: Ability to visually distinguish quality markers (color/texture) and hear equipment safety alarms or overhead pages.
Pay Transparency
- Pay Range: $17.00 - $20.00 hourly. Starting rates vary by level, experience, and current operational needs.
- Overtime: This is an hourly position subject to Alaska's 8-hour daily overtime laws.
