Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Fire Alarm Service & Inspection Technician to join our team. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional who takes pride in ensuring fire and life safety systems operate reliably and meet all applicable codes and standards. You’ll work across a variety of building types, performing inspections, service, troubleshooting, and system programming.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on fire alarm systems, suppression systems, releasing systems, and related components in accordance with industry standards and code requirements.
  • Review work orders, project documentation, and inspection scopes to ensure full understanding of system requirements and identify any additional needs before beginning work.
  • Manage daily service calls efficiently, including system diagnostics, programming, networking, and configuration adjustments.
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, system layouts, product manuals, and software interfaces to support accurate service execution.
  • Utilize appropriate testing tools and equipment, including multi-meters and other diagnostic devices.
  • Complete service documentation and required customer reports accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain strong communication with customers and internal teams to ensure safe, compliant, and high-quality service delivery.
  • Support additional field service activities as needed.


Qualifications & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical training in electronics, electrical systems, or a related field preferred.
  • NICET certification is preferred.
  • Experience working with low-voltage and life safety systems such as fire alarms, access control, nurse call, paging, HVAC controls, elevator interfaces, or similar systems is highly valued.
  • Working knowledge of electrical fundamentals, including Ohm’s Law, AC/DC circuits, and resistance.
  • Familiarity with test and diagnostic equipment such as multi-meters, analyzers, and communication devices.
  • Understanding of the safety considerations related to system inspection, testing, and maintenance.
  • Programming and system configuration experience is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple service calls and prioritize effectively.
  • Comfortable using computers and software applications such as Microsoft Office and digital reporting platforms.


Physical & Work Requirements

  • Ability to lift and move tools and equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Comfortable working at heights (ladders, lifts up to approximately 40 feet), in mechanical rooms, above ceilings, crawl spaces, and other confined areas as required.
  • Reliable attendance and flexibility to work extended hours or weekends when project demands require.
