PVI is looking for an experienced Critical Infrastructure Technician with a Journeyman Electrician License to join our Denver team. Great Pay and benefits as well as 401K. The desired candidate will possess the skills needed to work independently and, in a team setting, to monitor, operate & maintain, building electrical, mechanical & HVAC, life safety, and BAS systems.
Our Denver-based team works to deliver the best performance and reliability for our clients, the role requires night & weekend overnight support for 24x7 operations in a critical environment.
Job Summary:
The Critical Infrastructure Building Technician performs mechanical diagnostics and root cause analysis for equipment issues related to; PDU’s, UPS, Generators, Chillers, cooling towers, pumps, VFD’s, CRAC units, battery - as well as other systems within the critical environment. This position specifically requires a strong acumen in data center & technical facility critical infrastructure. Requires an understanding of processes, industry best practices, and standards. Must have strong communication, written and verbal, and computer skills.
Night shifts are particularly important to our operation due to the technical requirements of the role and the necessary triage that must be performed. Position requires the ability to provide critical reporting to support desks and client leadership teams to enable next step recovery plans to be accurately made. Non-linear reporting structures due to off-hours and ability to perform root cause analysis, report clearly, quickly, and adeptly on high stakes issues in the building.
Solid understanding of potential down-stream impacts to IT and other revenue impacting services. Candidate must have at least 5-7 years of experience in commercial and Industrial electrical wiring and must have general knowledge of the NEC and best electrical wiring practices. Must have a solid understanding of three phase electric and commercial service. Candidate must be a self-starter and able to operate efficiently and effectively with minimal supervision, while representing PVI in a client-based environment. This requires a high level and standard of customer service.
Job Duties:
- Perform visual inspections on critical infrastructure equipment, monitor building for active alarms, leaks, discrepancies, or deficiencies.
- Perform basic or in-depth equipment troubleshooting tasks to optimize SLA for OEM response and recovery efforts.
- Ensure plant and technical areas are in clean and functioning order adhering to code and standards with clearance areas etc.
- Perform project tasks as requested by site supervisor or Operations Manager while balancing building monitoring requirements.
- Adhere to PVI company policies as well as client practices and policies.
- Report status daily on work tasks, roadblocks, client interactions, and any lookout situations for subsequent shifts.
- Continue training and knowledge growth to be more effective across all areas of relevant infrastructure.
- Able to read prints, wiring diagrams and interpret Electrical measuring equipment .
- Troubleshoot, repair, and replace electrical equipment and three phase motors.
- Able to use electrical testing instruments, power hand drills, soldering equipment, pipe tools, miscellaneous hand tools, material handling equipment, etc.
- Starts up and shuts down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures and OSHA requirements for machine activation and shutdown .
- Previous experience working with voltages of 24 through 600 single and three phase equipment
- Installation of and troubleshoot existing electrical systems for customers.
- Run conduit from distribution to devices or panels, Install junction boxes, AC disconnect, Load Center, Switchgear, ATSs, Generators, MDPs, MCC and other electrical equipment
- Assist project manager and sales consultants with electrical design and assist with pulling electrical permits as needed.
- Pre job planning to compile list of parts needed and scope of work. Communicate with customer .regarding conduit run and location of devices etc.
- Calculate wire size with ampacity and voltage drop calculations and conduit sizing.
- Provide direction, plan and assist all electrical wiring pulls and terminations.
Experience:
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5-7 years of critical infrastructure experience, preferably in a technical building or data center setting.
- Holds a Journeyman Electrician license in state of Colorado
- Provide direction and assist all electrical wiring pulls and terminations
- Strong leadership skills and communication skills
- Strong instrumentation, PLC, VFD, HMI, generators and leadership skills
- OSHA 30, NFPA 70E certification a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- BMS System operations. Switchgear, mechanical plant operation experience.
- Knowledge of sequence of operations.
- Strong knowledge of life safety, EPO, beam detection systems.
- Solid understanding of data center MEP design and function.
- Relevant industry certifications mechanical/HVAC or electrical.
