Siteworks, Inc. is seeking a skilled and dependable Field Service Technician / Mechanic to join our team in Charleston, SC. Since 1992, we've been the trusted turnkey site development contractor in the Lowcountry, delivering high-quality heavy civil, infrastructure, and site work projects—including earthwork, underground utilities, paving, concrete, demolition, erosion control, and more—for commercial, institutional, and
federal clients.

Position Overview
As a Field Service Technician / Mechanic, you'll be responsible for the maintenance,
diagnosis, repair, and servicing of our heavy construction equipment—both in the shop and out in the field at active job sites across the Lowcountry. This mobile role ensures minimal downtime on critical machines like excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders,
compactors, trenchers, and support vehicles, supporting our earthmoving, grading and utility installation operations.
Key Responsibilities
· Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and scheduled services (oil changes, lubrication, filter replacements, fluid checks) on diesel-powered heavy equipment and vehicles.
· Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine issues using diagnostic tools, service manuals, and troubleshooting techniques.
· Repair or replace defective components, including engines, transmissions, hydraulics, brakes, undercarriage, electrical systems, and attachments.
· Conduct field service calls: travel to job sites to troubleshoot and repair equipment on-site, minimizing project delays.
· Perform welding, fabrication, and minor body repairs as needed.
· Maintain accurate service records, parts usage logs, and maintenance histories, report issues and recommendations to management.
· Ensure all work complies with safety standards, manufacturer specifications, and company policies.
· Assist with equipment setup, mobilization, and demobilization between sites.
· Order parts as required and manage inventory for common repairs.
· Participate in safety meetings and promote a safe working environment.
Qualifications s Requirements
· 1-5+ years of experience as a heavy equipment mechanic, diesel mechanic, or field service technician in construction, heavy civil, or site development (experience with earthmoving and paving equipment strongly preferred).
· Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical diagnostics, and heavy equipment components John Deere, Komatsu, Bobcat, or similar brands).
· Proficiency with diagnostic tools, multimeters, welding equipment, and shop tools; ability to read schematics and service manuals.
· Experience working on equipment such as excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, motor graders, asphalt pavers, rollers, trenchers, and utility trucks.
· Valid driver's license with clean record.
· Ability to work independently in the field, lift heavy parts (up to 50+ lbs), and perform tasks in varying weather conditions.
· Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and commitment to safety and quality.
· High school diploma or equivalent required; technical/vocational training in diesel mechanics or heavy equipment repair preferred.
