Dyna-Vac Equipment is seeking an experienced Welder/Fabricator with strong leadership skills to run our welding and fabrication shop. We manufacture custom vacuum pumping and sewer cleaning equipment and need a dependable, hands-on professional who can organize shop activities, guide team members, and help produce high-quality equipment.

This is a working-leader position—not a desk-only supervisory role. You will be directly involved in layout, fit-up, welding, and fabrication while coordinating daily work and setting the standard for safety, productivity, and workmanship.

The right candidate will bring considerable experience with welding and metal fabrication equipment, a strong mechanical background, and the ability to turn drawings and ideas into finished components.

What You’ll DoLead the Welding and Fabrication Shop

  • Organize daily shop activities and coordinate work to meet production priorities.

  • Assign tasks based on team members’ skills and project requirements.

  • Lead by example through dependable attendance, safe work practices, and quality workmanship.

  • Train and mentor less-experienced welders and fabricators.

  • Monitor work in progress for accuracy, fit, weld quality, and consistency.

  • Coordinate with management and assembly personnel to keep projects moving.

  • Identify material, tooling, and equipment needs before they delay production.

  • Help solve fabrication problems and improve shop methods.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Perform Hands-On Welding and Fabrication

  • Lay out, fit up, and weld steel tanks with capacities up to 4,000 gallons.

  • Perform MIG welding on sheet metal, plate, and structural steel.

  • Shear, bend, roll, cut, and form steel for custom equipment.

  • Fabricate subframes, trailer frames, brackets, supports, and a wide variety of components.

  • Read and work from shop drawings, sketches, and technical instructions.

  • Measure and check components for dimensions, alignment, and proper fit.

  • Develop practical fabrication solutions for custom projects.

  • Assist with equipment assembly and related shop work as needed.

Required Experience and Qualifications

  • Considerable hands-on experience in steel welding and fabrication.

  • Strong MIG welding skills and experience working with sheet metal, plate, and structural steel.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team, organize work, and maintain quality standards.

  • Experience setting up and safely operating common metal fabrication equipment, including shears, brakes, rolls, and saws.

  • Ability to interpret drawings and carry out layout, fit-up, and fabrication with minimal supervision.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving skills.

  • Working knowledge of shop math, fractions, decimals, angles, and measuring tools.

  • Ability to plan work, communicate instructions clearly, and follow through on commitments.

  • A dependable work ethic, attention to detail, and a team-oriented attitude.

  • Ability to perform the essential physical duties of the position, including lifting and moving materials weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Previous experience as a lead welder, lead fabricator, shop foreman, or fabrication supervisor is preferred. Experience with tank fabrication, trailer frames, or custom equipment manufacturing is especially valuable.
