Assistant Project Manager – Project Engineer (Mechanical Contracting)

Mechanical Contracting- Mechanical Construction

An excellent Mechanical Contractor in the Maryland/DC area is actively seeking to add an Assistant Project Manager – Project Engineer with mechanical contracting / mechanical construction experience for a full-time permanent staff opportunity. Examples of duties associated with this role:

  • Assist with the analysis of project requirements to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
  • Review proposals for various scopes of work and award subcontracts accordingly.
  • Consult with clients, vendors, or construction personnel to analyze and formulate schedules and resolve issues.
  • Assist with the preparation of cost and expenditure statements and other necessary documentation at regular intervals for the duration and at the completion of the project.
  • Assess cost effectiveness of projects or services and track actual costs relative to bids as the project develops.
  • Provide independent analysis of project management organization, contractual issues, schedules, and financial metrics.
  • Assist the Project Manager with job processes (RFIs, submittals, and pay application) and negotiate subcontract change orders.
  • Monitor project procurement, including long-lead items while interacting with consultants, clients, and construction contractors.
  • Prepare meeting agendas, take detailed notes, and distribute notes to the appropriate individuals.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Approximately three (3) or more years of experience focused within the mechanical contracting/mechanical construction industry.
  • Projects are commercial & industrial focused, ranging from ground up, addition, renovation & fit out.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Comfortable learning and using industry software technology i.e., Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera, etc.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to read plans as required
  • BA/BS degreed desired (Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field)
