This position is 8 months Contract with a possibility to Permanent conversion.
Summary
This role involves assembling and building out telecommunications devices, cabinets, and assemblies that are mechanical or electro-mechanical in nature. These typically include racks or cabinets containing electronic equipment and components, power systems, batteries, shelves, brackets, alarms, cabling, and other associated telecommunications hardware. Assemblies may be complex and must meet high standards of quality and detail to align with internal and customer expectations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Familiarity with wireless or wireline service provider infrastructure deployments and installations is a plus.
- Experience with equipment wiring and cabling such as AC, DC, ground, RF, coax, Ethernet, fiber, multi-pair, etc.
- Perform basic assembly and installation (rack-and-stack) of telecommunications gear, power components, and related equipment.
- Install power and signal cabling, including lugs, heat-shrink, RJ45 connectors, alarm connections, cable dressing, labeling, and lacing.
- Adhere to telecom industry safety protocols and outage procedures.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Follow safety practices and procedures.
- Practice quality awareness and apply quality control processes during work.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and task-specific tooling properly and safely.
- Unpack, inspect, and inventory job-related materials.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and assembly documentation.
- Perform mechanical assembly activities including cabling, grounding, and power connections under supervision.
- Perform other tasks as directed by a supervisor.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Moderate experience with electro-mechanical assembly preferred.
- Knowledge and hands-on experience with assembly and construction of rack, cabinet, or enclosure products and associated wiring.
- Ability to inventory and inspect hardware materials for damage and accuracy.
- Must be able to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and documentation (or demonstrate the ability to learn).
- Understanding of electrical color codes and quality requirements is a plus.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision following standard assembly practices.
