Location - San Francisco, CA (Onsite – 5 Days/Week)

Employment Type - Full-time

Interview Mode: Virtual (Final Onsite)

About the Role

We are seeking a founding-level Senior Software Lead to architect and build the backend and data infrastructure for a next-generation factory operating system.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you will design scalable systems that integrate robotic manufacturing, sensor/perception data pipelines, and hybrid cloud/on-prem infrastructure. You will start by leading a small team and play a key role in scaling engineering capabilities while delivering production-grade systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop backend services for planning, scheduling, telemetry, and data capture across manufacturing systems

• Build and optimize large-scale visual/perception data pipelines (video, sensor, LiDAR, etc.)

• Architect hybrid infrastructure combining on-prem/embedded systems with cloud environments

• Define and manage data flow between factory systems and cloud platforms

• Lead and mentor engineers, scaling a team from early-stage growth

• Collaborate with robotics, manufacturing, and leadership teams to define and execute product roadmap

• Deliver production-ready systems supporting real-world manufacturing operations

Mandatory Skills & Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering (backend/distributed systems)

• Strong expertise in Python and C++ (production-level development)

• Experience building large-scale visual/perception pipelines (video, camera, LiDAR, sensor data)

• Deep understanding of distributed systems and high-throughput data architectures (TB–PB scale)

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS or GCP) and hybrid infrastructure environments

• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), containers, and Kubernetes

• Proven leadership experience (Tech Lead / Engineering Lead / Project Ownership)

• Experience building systems from scratch (0→1 development or major platform ownership)

Preferred Skills

• Background in robotics, autonomous vehicles, manufacturing systems, or computer vision

• Experience with ML infrastructure and perception systems

• Exposure to real-time data streaming and large-scale analytics systems

What Makes You a Fit

• Strong ownership mindset with ability to deliver production-grade systems

• Comfortable working in fast-paced, early-stage environments

• Passion for building scalable systems with real-world impact (not just prototypes)

• Ability to collaborate across engineering, robotics, and business teams

Work Requirements

• Must be able to work onsite in San Francisco 5 days/week

• Must be open to relocation (if not local)

• Comfortable working in high-impact environments including defense/logistics applications

Why Join Us

• Opportunity to build a factory operating system from the ground up

• High ownership role with direct impact on next-gen manufacturing systems

• Work alongside top-tier robotics and manufacturing experts

• Early-stage environment with strong equity upside and career growth

• Small, highly technical team with strong innovation culture
