Job Description

Receptionist / Office Clerk, Crocker Carter Hall PLLC (Milan, Tennessee)

Crocker Carter Hall PLLC, a growing law firm in Milan, Tennessee, is hiring an entry-level receptionist and office clerk. No law-office experience is needed; we will train the right person. We are looking for someone friendly, dependable, and organized who wants to learn and become part of a close-knit team.

As our receptionist, you will be the first person many clients see and hear. You will greet visitors, answer phones, keep files in order, and handle the daily tasks that keep the office running.

What you will do

  • Answer and direct calls, screen callers for the attorneys, and send clear, accurate messages
  • Greet clients, let attorneys and staff know of arrivals, and offer refreshments
  • Pick up mail at the post office each morning, take outgoing mail at closing, and run the postage meter
  • Scan, save, and file incoming mail, faxes, and client documents to the correct electronic and paper files
  • Call clients, courts, opposing counsel, mediators, and court reporters to confirm the next day's appointments and hearings, and update the attorneys' calendars
  • Keep the conflict list current as new clients are added
  • Open and close client files using the firm's checklists
  • Prepare conference rooms for meetings, depositions, and mediations, and keep the waiting area tidy
  • Keep supplies, the copier, the break room, and workstations stocked, and order supplies as needed
  • Handle routine filing, shredding, and payments to court reporters, process servers, and other vendors

What we are looking for

  • A friendly, professional manner in person and on the phone
  • Reliability, punctuality, and reliable transportation
  • Good organizational skills and close attention to detail
  • Basic computer skills (email, word processing, and scanning)
  • Discretion and respect for confidential information
  • A willingness to learn and follow established procedures
