Position Overview
The Leasing Consultant is responsible for leasing apartment homes and providing exceptional service to both prospective and current residents. This role requires a professional, experienced leasing individual who understands apartment operations, follows structured leasing processes, and communicates clearly and confidently. The Leasing Consultant plays a key role in achieving occupancy goals while maintaining high resident satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full leasing cycle from initial inquiry to move-in
- Greet, qualify, and follow up with prospective residents in person, by phone, email, and online
- Conduct professional property tours and effectively present floor plans, pricing, and amenities
- Accurately explain lease terms, policies, fees, and community standards
- Process applications, background screenings, and lease documentation
- Ensure accurate data entry and file management in property management software
- Maintain daily leasing activity logs and follow-up schedules
- Support resident relations by addressing questions, concerns, and service requests professionally
- Assist with renewal processes and resident retention efforts
- Support marketing initiatives, online listings, and community outreach
- Collaborate with property management and maintenance teams to ensure apartments are ready for move-in
- Maintain compliance with Fair Housing laws, company policies, and local regulations
Requirements
- Previous apartment leasing experience required
- Strong understanding of apartment leasing processes and resident relations
- Polished, professional appearance and excellent communication skills
- Proven ability to meet leasing goals and manage multiple prospects
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Comfortable using property management software (Yardi, ResMan, BlueMoon, or similar)
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Availability to work weekends as required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in lease-up communities or affordable/tax credit housing
- Sales or customer service background in a structured environment
- Bilingual skills a plus
