Job Description

The Opportunity

SpektreWorks is seeking a senior-level Software Engineer to serve as a primary technical partner to our founder. As we scale our diverse product lines—ranging from commercial mapping to advanced defense-oriented UAS platforms—we need a "second wave" leader to take a seat at the table and drive the next generation of our autonomy stack.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership: Support the founder by taking ownership of critical coding tasks and high-level system architecture to ensure sustainable scaling.

  • Autonomy Development: Design and implement autonomous behaviors for UAS platforms, specifically focused on reliable performance in GPS-denied environments.

  • System Integration: Lead the integration of custom payloads with mission computers and autopilots, ensuring seamless communication across unique hardware configurations.

  • Field & Client Success: Act as a technical lead during critical flight events and demonstrations, managing hardware/software failures in real-time to ensure mission success.

  • Advanced R&D: Push the envelope by integrating AI and advanced signals processing into future product iterations to move beyond piloted systems.

Technical Requirements

  • Core Languages: Mastery of C++ for high-performance, real-time applications.

  • Flight Stacks: Extensive experience with ArduPilot, MAVLink, ROS, and Pixhawk.

  • Mission Systems: Background in safety-critical software, gimbal camera control, and modular payload integration.
  • Hardware/Software Bridge: Proven ability to handle "software archaeology" and refactor complex codebases to improve performance and reliability.

Qualifications

  • Professional Background: Prior experience in mission-critical software within the aerospace or defense sectors.

  • Leadership Pedigree: Ability to translate complex technical concepts for key stakeholders and project managers.
  • Analytical Approach: A "systems-level" thinker who can optimize runtime complexity and improve debugging efficiencies
  • Security Standards: Experience working within rigorous verification frameworks and maintaining system security modules.
