Summary
The Commercial Building Material Estimator / Project Coordinator is responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, identifying new business opportunities within those accounts, material estimating and bidding projects, timely follow up on bids, and ensuring client satisfaction by proactively managing client needs to ultimately drive business success.
Expected base salary range of $73,000 to $82,000. This position is commission eligible and estimated total compensation package is higher than base salary range. These are estimates only and total variable compensation will fluctuate based on actual sales.
Key Responsibilities
- Review bid requests to scope projects for material needs specified and shown on plans, working with general contractors and other project team members to provide solutions and material pricing
- Assess architectural plans and specifications to accurately estimate and bid project materials
- Provide complete, informative and accurate material estimates of specified products with detailed and informative summaries of any discrepancies and/or qualifications
- Identify opportunities for alternative material options, with timely submittal of substitution requests
- Resolve discrepancies through RFI’s and submit bids in advance of bid deadlines
- Create and provide supporting documentation, submittals and/or close out documentation
- Provide timely bid follow up, gathering detailed job tracking intelligence after each bid
- Track and analyze metrics on material estimating, sales volume and gross margin
- Project coordinate material procurement and delivery of materials as well as project manage project timeframes and communication with Clients
- Develop and foster deep client relationships through proactive, strategic touchpoints
- Regularly visit client accounts to bring value and maintain professional business relations
- Communicate strategically with clients on material bid requests, job follow up, market intelligence, and how to grow our business together
- Assist with walk-in, call-in, and other non-assigned client sales
Qualifications
- Associate degree or higher, or equivalent material estimating/project coordinating experience
- Minimum of 3 years of material estimating/project coordinating/sales experience, preferably in a distribution, construction, or manufacturing environment
- Detailed material estimating and project management skills, with strong expertise with construction documents
- Strong understanding of construction management principles and practices
- Proactive, self-directed initiative with collaborative sales skills, flexibility, and a desire to succeed in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent organizational, time management, and attention to detail skills, with the ability to prioritize
- Skilled in building rapport and growing positive, partnering client relationships with integrity
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills both written and verbal
- Strong product expertise and value generation to clients
- Robust working knowledge of Microsoft Office, estimating software, as well as other technology
