Electrical Automation Maintenance Specialist
Job Description
Job DescriptionImagine Solving This
A packaging line throws an HMI alarm. You trace a signal path from a temperature control loop through a PLC input, verify a 4–20 mA transmitter, tweak a VFD parameter, and bring the line back up—all while logging work and parts in CMMS. If this sounds like your kind of challenge, read on.
About Novolex®
We’re a leader in packaging innovation for food, retail, health, and industrial markets. Our approach to sustainability is built on three pillars—products, operations, and people—driving enterprise-wide initiatives and measurable progress.
What You’ll Tackle
- Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair industrial electrical/electronic control systems in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Execute repairs, preventative maintenance, installations, upgrades, and changes to production equipment and facility systems.
- Document detailed maintenance activities and parts usage in CMMS or written logs.
- Diagnose hardware/software issues across PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, AC/DC drives, computer-based systems, and temperature controls.
- Program and set up machines so products meet specification; perform PLC, HMI, and VFD edits, transfers, and troubleshooting.
- Help create, modify, and revise manufacturing work instructions and process flow documentation.
- Assemble/disassemble and maintain electro-mechanical systems—manual and automated—using schematics, engineering drawings, and written or verbal instructions.
- Run/bend conduit, mount boxes, pull feeders, and perform terminations.
- Conduct bench diagnostics and rebuilds on offline parts and machines; test and restock or red tag and escalate to the lead/supervisor for replacement/repair.
- Work safely, accurately, quickly, and independently; stay calm and effective under pressure.
Do You Bring These?
- Associate degree in electrical engineering, Industrial Maintenance Certification, or 3+ years as an industrial electrician with mechanical experience (industrial manufacturing is a plus).
- Strong knowledge of 120/277/480 V systems and three-phase power.
- PLC experience; familiarity with Allen-Bradley and AB RSLogix is a plus.
- Hands-on with VFDs, DC and servo drives, plus AC/DC drive systems.
- Process control skills: 4–20 mA loops, positioning feedback, and analog controls.
- Background in temperature control systems.
- Deep knowledge of industrial electrical systems maintenance.
- Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics.
How You’ll Work
Side-by-side with engineering, machine operators, and other maintenance pros, you’ll keep our equipment running and our products within spec—contributing to Novolex’s sustainability journey and operational excellence.
