Overview:
\n
The Battery Cell Manufacturing Engineering Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Battery Process Engineer to join the Conditions for Good Process and Product advancement and problem-solving group.
\n
The primary responsibility of this role is leading planning and problem-solving efforts during pre-production trial activities. This includes utilizing and improving systems and procedures for efficient issue identification, root cause analysis, issue resolution, prevention of recurrence, continuous improvement (Kaizen), and project management of trials.
\n
This role will also contribute to developing organizational capabilities through the advancement and application of process and product knowledge.
\n

What You’ll Be Doing:
\n
• Lead cross-functional teams collaborating with equipment and manufacturing groups.
\n
• Engage in and resolve material, product, and process issues, both internally and externally.
\n
• Create and implement working/trial plans for confirmation and problem-solving activities using structured problem-solving or Lean methodologies.
\n
• Create detailed technical reports and summary reports for organizational learning and development.
\n
• Provide input into process and equipment plans/specifications for Kaizen and issue-recurrence prevention.
\n
• Develop and improve systems and procedures for problem-solving and knowledge capture.
\n
• Manage individual activities, status visualization/reporting, and continuous improvement.
\n
• Lead internal and external partner relationships while aligning with team objectives.
\n
• Support department-level strategic initiatives and organizational advancement.
\n
• Support standardization and continuous improvement of department systems and processes.
\n
• Mentor and train team members on battery knowledge, trial planning and execution, data analysis, and manufacturing principles.
\n
• Drive individual development, seek feedback, and monitor progress.
\n
\n
Requirements:
\n
• Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering or a similar technical field.
\n
• 3+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
\n
• Experience in manufacturing production preparation, including project planning, process/equipment planning, specification and procurement, installation, and trial activities.
\n
• Experience with winding, cell assembly, and electrolyte filling for automotive battery cells — 2+ years required; 5+ years preferred.
\n
• Experience with battery cell products, manufacturing processes/equipment, and/or trial activities.
\n
• Experience identifying, applying, and confirming conditions required for good process and product quality.
\n
• Experience coordinating with various functions in large corporate organizations, including production engineering, manufacturing, R&D, and Quality.
\n
• Experience reporting technical findings and project status to senior leadership.
\n
• Experience interpreting and applying product/process specifications, drawings, and data.
\n
• Experience with new material introduction, validation, change-point management, and confirmation.
\n
• Ability to work weekends and shutdown periods when required.
\n
• Ability to work overtime up to 25% and travel domestically/internationally up to 15%.
\n

Preferred Qualifications:
\n
• Experience applying Lean Manufacturing or Production System principles.
\n
• Experience with product/process/equipment simultaneous engineering for new models.
\n
• Experience working in manufacturing plant production operations.
\n
• Experience with data analytics tools and methods.
\n
• Experience with digital engineering software tools and procedures, including reading, interpreting, and modifying model data.
\n
• Japanese language proficiency, including verbal and written communication.
\n
