A high-performing, financially strong U.S. insurance group is investing heavily in its Data & Analytics platform as it enters a major growth phase — and is hiring a hands-on Data & Analytics Solutions Architect to help shape what comes next.
This is not an Enterprise Architect role. It’s a deeply technical, delivery-oriented architecture position sitting within a central Data & Analytics function, working directly with engineering teams and business partners to design, evolve, and execute modern data platforms at scale.
🚀 Why this role stands out
- A $5.5B revenue business with an ambition to reach $10B in the next few years
- Expanding rapidly across the U.S. — growth driven by technology, automation, and data, not headcount alone
- Moving decisively toward a Databricks-centric Lakehouse architecture (Azure-based)
- Production ML and early LLM use cases already live — not just experimentation
- Architects here own real problems end-to-end, with visibility across the full data lifecycle
You’ll join a small, senior architecture group supporting multiple business domains (claims, underwriting, operations, analytics), helping teams move faster while setting the right technical guardrails.
🧠 What you’ll be doing
- Designing and evolving modern Data & Analytics architectures (batch, real-time, cloud & hybrid)
- Partnering with delivery teams and business stakeholders to translate needs into scalable solutions
- Defining standards, patterns, and frameworks across Databricks, Azure, Power BI, ML platforms, and ingestion tools
- Supporting execution — reviewing designs, advising engineers, solving complex technical problems
- Evaluating new tools and capabilities, running POCs, and influencing platform roadmaps
- Acting as a technical mentor across data engineering, analytics, and ML teams
This is an individual contributor role (manager-grade) — ideal for someone who wants architectural ownership without people management.
✅ What they’re looking for
- ~7+ years in Data & Analytics Architecture or senior data engineering with strong architectural ownership
- Strong Databricks experience (Lakehouse / medallion architecture is essential)
- Solid Azure knowledge (data, networking concepts, security patterns)
- Experience designing data pipelines, analytics platforms, and ML-adjacent architectures
- Comfortable working across teams, articulating technical decisions, and challenging designs constructively
- Insurance experience is helpful but not required — technical depth matters most
Nice to have: Power BI, Azure ML, Informatica/IICS, real-time ingestion, governance & data quality frameworks.
🌱 Culture & growth
- High autonomy, low politics, strong internal mobility
- Long tenure and real investment in upskilling
- Architects here influence strategy and delivery — no ivory towers
