Job Title: Project Manager Corrosion Control and Preservation on Naval Vessels,
Job Description
Lead teams in performing corrosion control and preservation on Naval Vessels, including freeboard, superstructure, decks, anchors, life raft racks, tanks, compartments, and other shipboard systems utilizing specialized coating applications. Ensure the preparation of surfaces for preservation and comply with NAVSEA Standards or other job requirements. Oversee the removal of old paint and debris from substrates using various methods, including laser removal, while adhering to environmental standards. Apply coatings according to specifications and marine practices and supervise teams to ensure timely and quality work.
Responsibilities
- Lead team(s) in performing corrosion control and preservation on Naval Vessels.
- Ensure proper preparation of all types of surfaces for preservation.
- Ensure compliance with NAVSEA Standards or other job requirements.
- Oversee removal of old paint and debris using scraping, chipping, sanding, and laser removal.
- Apply coatings in accordance with specifications and marine practices.
- Supervise teams to ensure quality work in a timely and safe manner.
- Use basic hand tools and machinery for corrosion and coating applications.
- Perform multiple tasks and meet critical deadlines.
- Ensure proper timekeeping of team and report daily task accomplishments.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or related field or equivalent experience of at least 7 years in corrosion control.
- Working knowledge of project management principles.
- Ability to detect and resolve conflicts and risks within projects.
- Familiarity with timekeeping and cost reporting.
- Documented technical experience and leadership skills.
- Working knowledge of shipyard/Naval Base operations and NAVSEA instructions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
- Ability to use an iPad for documenting work status.
- Effective communication skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- SSPC Sandblaster Certified holder.
