Custodial Specialist - Tucson Campus

Duties:
- Opening duties ie: may unlock the building and walk the area to ensure it's ready for school
- Closing duties ie: may walk the campus and ensure it's locked up and set the alarm
- Clean up trash, periodically disinfect desktop surfaces, tidy furniture, sweep, mop, vacuum, wax, polishing floor surfaces, cleaning windows
- Clean and sanitize toilets, sinks, and showers
- Restock all disposers, i.e., paper towels, toilet paper, soap, sanitizer, and air freshener
- Perform maintenance and minor repairs (replacing broken switches, fixing door handles, minor leaks, toilet needs, etc.)
- Perform other maintenance to include such items as adjusting desks, replacing light bulbs, cooling filters, adjusting doors, etc.
- Report or submit additional maintenance work orders as needed
- Ensure the alarm system is turned off in the morning and activated before leaving
- Undertake custodial and janitorial tasks (picking up trash from the parking lot, lifting heavy items, moving chairs, etc.)
- Assist in the annual inventory of all equipment in the school
- Set up and restore the gym, auditorium, or cafeteria for special events, meetings, games, or plays
- Performs basic plumbing, mechanical maintenance, and repairs to leaks, stoppages, and other equipment/structures. Advise the supervisor if an outside vendor is needed for a complex repair
- Ensure the restrooms are prepared to AZACS standards for the day
- Maintain outer premises by watering plants, cleaning entrances, and performing minor landscaping repairs
- Minimal pest control: Utilize insecticides to prevent infestation by dangerous pests
- Responsible for cleaning up of blood-borne pathogens
Safety and Security Duties:
- Assist in all safety drills: (per EOP Manual)
- Assist with drop-off and pickup procedure: (per EOP Manual)

Minimum Qualifications:
- Understanding of methods, materials, and equipment used in custodial, grounds keeping, and building maintenance work.
- Proven experience as a custodian, janitor, or in a similar role
- Knowledge of the use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances
- Knowledge of safe disposal of chemical liquids and other hazardous components
- Familiarity with basic landscaping and handyman practices
- Attention to detail and conscientiousness
- Very good physical condition and strength
- A high school diploma is preferred but not required
Required:
- Arizona IVP Fingerprint clearance card
ADA AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Positions in this class require: stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
Physical Requirements:
Exerting up to 60 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Be able to lift to 50 pounds.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in an outdoor environment occasionally and an indoor environment frequently.
