POSITION PURPOSE
\n
The Collections Technician works with the Manager of Collections and Assistant Registrar of
\n
Collections to preserve, protect, and document the Henry’s permanent collection. This
\n
position particularly focuses on creating custom object housing and safe object movement
\n
and tracking.
\n
\n

PAY RANGE: $23 - $25.50 per hour, depending on experience
\n
\n
SCHEDULE: 16-18 hours per week, Tuesday – Friday; exact schedule to be determined with
\n
supervisor, with potential for additional hours in 2027
\n
\n
REPORTS TO: Manager of Collections
\n
\n
WHAT THE COLLECTIONS TECHNICIAN DOES:
\n
• Conduct safe art handling of collection objects
\n
• Create custom housing for collection objects
\n
• Assist with storage of collection objects
\n
• Assist with pest mitigation measures
\n
• Assist with condition assessments
\n
• Assist in maintaining and updating the Collection Management System (MuseumPlus)
\n
• Assist in implementing and upholding best practices for art handling and storage
\n
• Other collections related tasks as the need arises, and as they relate to the overall
\n
needs of the museum
\n
Other duties as assigned
\n
\n
CONNECT WITH US IF YOU HAVE:

• Demonstrated experience making boxes and other supports for permanent storage
\n
• Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in museum storage and art handling
\n
• Close attention to detail
\n
• Strong communication skills
\n
\n
ADDITIONAL DESIRED EXPERIENCE
\n
• Working knowledge of collection management database (MuseumPlus)
\n
• Experience with Integrated Pest Management and Environmental Monitoring
\n

STATUS: Regular part-time employee; Affiliate University of Washington employee; FLSA
\n
non-exempt (eligible for overtime); non-benefited
\n
\n
BENEFITS: This position is non-benefited. This position does not accrue vacation time or
\n
receive holiday credit hours.
\n
The employee will have access to or receive:
\n
• Sick leave accrued at a rate of 1 hour of sick leave per every 40 hours worked
\n
• Paid holiday time during designated museum holiday closures that occur on days the
\n
employee is otherwise regularly scheduled to work
\n
• Affiliate University of Washington employee status, with access to such things as: the
\n
UW library system, ability to purchase an IMA gym membership.
\n
• One UW Professional and Organizational Development (POD) Course per year
\n
• A Professional Membership to the American Alliance of Museums (AAM)
\n
