About the Role
We are a California-based architectural metalworking shop committed to craftsmanship, detail, and collaboration. We're seeking a Shop Technical Lead - a skilled architectural welder and craftsman who can take the lead on our shop floor, guiding a team of fabricators and welders in creating custom, high-quality work.
This is a hands-on leadership role. You'll be on the shop floor daily, welding, fabricating, and mentoring, while setting the standard for quality and efficiency. If you're a seasoned metalworker who thrives on teaching, building, and leading by example, this is the role for you.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of fabricators, welders, and CNC operators on the shop floor.
- Provide hands-on training, coaching, and guidance to improve skill levels and shop performance.
- Assign daily tasks to team members and monitor progress to keep production on schedule.
- Perform advanced welding and fabrication on architectural and decorative metal projects.
- Ensure quality standards are upheld through in-process checks and final reviews.
- Enforce safety protocols and OSHA compliance across all shop floor activities.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment.
Qualifications
Required:
- 7+ years of experience in welding, fabrication, or architectural metalwork.
- Proven ability to weld, fabricate, and finish decorative and structural metals.
- Expertise in welding techniques (MIG, TIG, Stick) and metal finishing.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
- Experience in leading or supervising a shop floor team.
- Commitment to maintaining safety and quality standards.
Preferred:
- Experience in custom architectural projects (gates, railings, stairs, decorative panels).
- Knowledge of CNC machinery and metalworking tools.
- Strong portfolio of completed work demonstrating craftsmanship.

Compensation
- Hourly Pay: $40 - $50, based on experience
- Schedule: Four-day work week (Monday-Thursday, 5:00 am - 3:30 pm)
