Job Summary:

IP Pathways is experiencing explosive company growth! In fact, weve doubled in size over the last couple of years and wed like to consider you for a position on our growing team! The Help Desk position is responsible for providing first level technical support to our customer base. This is a full-time position taking place from Thursday 5pm - 1am, Friday 5pm - 5am, Saturday 5pm - 5am, and Sunday 5pm - 1am located in Kansas City. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with excellent communication skills.

This primarily includes interacting with other IT professionals employed by our customers and end users. These support services may be focused on networking, routing and firewall administration, but include the whole IP Pathways product set.This position must also provide a high-level of professionalism and must possess excellent soft skills in addition to technical skills. We are willing to train the right candidate in all aspects of our product set.

Responsibilities:

  • Patching of systems
  • Monitoring, testing of backups and remediation of related issues
  • Responding to client system tickets and escalating as needed to on-call engineers
  • Always work to maintain a high-level of customer satisfaction
  • Always strive for continual improvement in everything we do
  • Work on maintaining our data center networks
  • Provide technical support to customers
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

  • 1 - 2 years of experience supporting or implementing technology solutions
  • Experience or exposure with the following technologies preferred
    • Familiarity networking and system infrastructure (servers, switches, firewalls, etc.)
    • Knowledge of Linux based operating systems and experience using command line tools (bash, vim, etc.)
    • Familiarity with Windows patching using automated systems as well as manual management via Windows Update utility
    • Knowledge of Windows Operating System and sufficient experience to troubleshoot a wide range of potential user issues
    • Familiarity of firewalls and other network security devices
    • Cisco VoIP
    • Windows Operating System
    • Wireless networks
    • VPN (IPSec, SSL, etc.)
    • Load-balancing & application acceleration
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Excellent ability to multitask and maintain high-levels of quality

  • Must be able to work as a valued member in a team environment

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of firewalls, whitelisting and blacklisting, and an ability to setup and troubleshoot VPNs
  • Familiarity with server and PC hardware and experience swapping hardware components.
  • Associates degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business Systems or certifications in specific IT subject matter preferred, but not required

Physical Abilities Required:

  • Ability to rack servers, switches, and other datacenter equipment

Compensation and Benefits:
