Whizara is looking for a passionate Part-Time ASL 1 Instructor to lead an engaging after-school program for middle school students in San Diego, California.
\n
\n
You’ll introduce students to the fundamentals of ASL in a fun, supportive environment while helping them develop communication skills, cultural awareness, confidence, and a deeper appreciation for different ways of connecting with others.

What You’ll Do
\n
- \n
- Lead engaging beginner-level ASL lessons for middle school students
- Create a safe, welcoming, and positive classroom environment
- Follow Whizara’s provided curriculum and adapt instruction to support student learning
- Set learning goals, motivate students, and encourage participation
- Monitor student progress and provide helpful feedback and support
- Build positive relationships with students, school staff, and parents
- Share classroom insights and feedback to help improve curriculum and instruction
- Keep the classroom organized, clean, and ready for learning
- Communicate with the Whizara team via email and phone as needed
- Be punctual, dependable, and prepared to lead each class independently

What We’re Looking For
\n
- \n
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree, or currently pursuing a degree, in Deaf Studies, Special Education, Linguistics, Education, or a related field
- Strong knowledge of American Sign Language and the ability to teach beginner-level ASL
- Previous experience teaching, tutoring, mentoring, or working with K–12 students is preferred
- Strong communication and classroom management skills
- Patient, energetic, dependable, and comfortable working with young learners
- A genuine interest in helping students learn and grow
