We are currently seeking a Paralegal / Legal Assistant with strong employment law experience to join our Legal team. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can manage a high-volume caseload, and is confident working across multiple companies within a shared structure.

Position Summary

This role supports our Legal and HR departments in handling employer-side employment law matters, with a strong emphasis on managing active cases and documentation across various entities. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with complexity, confident in moving cases forward, and capable of communicating professionally with both internal stakeholders and external agencies or counsel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day paralegal and legal administrative support in labor and employment defense matters.
  • Handle a high caseload of employment-related matters across multiple companies under our organization.
  • Assist with drafting and organizing legal documents: responses to EDD claims, EEOC/DFEH complaints, wage claims, subpoenas, and internal investigation summaries.
  • Track deadlines, legal calendars, and coordinate with outside counsel when needed.
  • Conduct legal research and organize case-related facts and documents.
  • Collaborate with internal HR teams to obtain records and clarify case details.
  • Help maintain compliance with California and federal labor laws.
  • Maintain confidentiality and legal professionalism across all communications.

Qualifications

  • Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program required; Associate or Bachelors degree preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in employment law (defense/employer-side preferred).
  • Strong understanding of California labor laws, workplace compliance, and defense strategies.
  • Experience working with high-volume caseloads and managing timelines across multiple departments or companies.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational, research, and communication skills.
  • Tech-savvy with Microsoft Office Suite and legal software or case management tools.
  • Ability to multitask, shift priorities quickly, and work with discretion.
