Job Summary:

OEG Building Materials, a steel manufacturing company, is seeking an experienced Forklift Mechanic to inspect, maintain, and repair propane and diesel-powered forklifts. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills, a solid understanding of safety standards, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Diagnose, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on propane and diesel forklifts

• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and fuel system issues

• Perform routine inspections to ensure equipment is safe and operational

• Replace or repair engines, transmissions, brakes, steering systems, and other components

• Maintain accurate service and maintenance records

• Ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards

• Respond to equipment breakdowns in a timely manner to minimize downtime

• Communicate repair needs and recommendations clearly with management

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Proven experience as a forklift mechanic or heavy equipment mechanic

• Hands-on experience with propane and diesel forklifts (required)

• Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems

• Ability to read and interpret service manuals and schematics

• Valid driver’s license (forklift certification a plus)

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a warehouse or outdoor environment

• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Trade school or technical certification in mechanical repair

• Experience with multiple forklift brands

• Welding or fabrication experience a plus

Work Environment & Schedule:

• Warehouse/industrial setting

• Full-time (schedule may vary based on operational needs)

Compensation and Benefits

• Pay: $25.00 - $32.00 per hour (non-exempt)
