Job Description
About the Role
We are seeking a motivated, highly capable Full-Charge Accountant to take responsibility for the company’s day-to-day accounting operations. This is a hands-on position requiring strong full-cycle accounting and QuickBooks skills, exceptional attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to think critically and solve problems.
The Full-Charge Accountant will work directly with company owners and executives while independently managing the company’s accounting responsibilities. We are looking for someone who is intelligent, resourceful, dependable, and able to learn new systems and processes quickly.
You do not need to know everything on day one. What is important is a strong accounting foundation, excellent QuickBooks skills, the ability to work independently, and a willingness to learn, take on new responsibilities, and grow professionally with the company.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to become a trusted member of the organization, expand their knowledge and responsibilities over time, and build a long-term career with a growing company.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate accounting records using QuickBooks.
- Manage the complete Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) processes, including invoicing, collections, and customer account maintenance.
- Process ACH payments, wire transfers, checks, and other electronic transactions.
- Process payroll accurately and maintain payroll records.
- Maintain the General Ledger, including journal entries and adjusting entries.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, loans, and balance sheet accounts.
- Complete monthly and year-end closing procedures.
- Prepare monthly financial statements, management reports, cash flow reports, and supporting schedules.
- Maintain accurate, organized accounting records and supporting documentation.
- Work directly and professionally with company owners and executives regarding day-to-day financial matters and requested financial information.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, procedures, and workflow efficiency.
- Learn and adapt to new systems, technologies, and processes as the company evolves.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of financial, payroll, and employee information.
- Perform other accounting and related responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications & Skills
- Strong hands-on full-cycle accounting experience.
- Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks is required.
- Demonstrated experience with AP, AR, payroll, ACH/electronic payments, bank and credit card reconciliations, General Ledger accounting, journal entries, month-end close, financial statement preparation, and cash flow reporting.
- Strong understanding of accounting and bookkeeping principles.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Strong critical-thinking, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to learn new systems, procedures, and technologies quickly.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and exercise sound judgment.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Professional demeanor and confidence working directly with company owners and executives.
- High level of integrity, discretion, dependability, and confidentiality.
The Person We’re Looking For
Beyond accounting experience, we are looking for someone who is smart, resourceful, adaptable, and a quick thinker. The right person takes ownership of their work, pays close attention to details, and follows responsibilities through to completion.
You should be someone who does more than identify a problem—you think through possible solutions. You are comfortable asking thoughtful questions when needed, learning new software and processes, and finding more efficient ways to accomplish your work.
You should also be comfortable working independently without constant direction while being able to collaborate effectively with company owners, executives, and others throughout the organization.
Most importantly, we are looking for someone who has the skills to succeed in the position today while also having the aptitude, work ethic, and desire to continue learning, take on greater responsibilities, and grow with the company.
Education & Experience
A degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field is preferred; however, demonstrated ability, relevant experience, and strong accounting skills are equally important.
We are more interested in finding the right person with the right skills, aptitude, work ethic, and desire to grow than in requiring a specific educational path.
Pre-Employment Requirements
Final candidates will be required to:
- Successfully complete a practical bookkeeping and QuickBooks proficiency assessment.
- Successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening as a condition of employment.
Benefits
- Competitive salary commensurate with experience
- Health, dental, and vision insurance
- Paid Time Off (PTO) and paid holidays
- 401(k) with company match
- Professional development opportunities
- Opportunity to expand responsibilities and advance as the company grows
