Education: High School diploma. Microsoft Certified Systems Engineering Certificate, Associates degree, or Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical area is desirable.

I. BASIC FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
Local Area Network (LAN) Assistant assists the LAN manager in running the work center. Serves as the site POC for computer accounts, email, and applications issues. Creates new user accounts, configures peripherals, and manages network resources at a local administrator level.
II. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provides help desk functions for computer users.
2. Installs new computer systems.
3. Upgrades, troubleshoot, and repairs most small computer problems.
4. Completes network restoration actions as dictated by PWS requirements.
5. Manages site small computer software library.
6. Performs annual inventory of Automated Data Processing Equipment.
7. Provides initial and follow on Information Assurance and Awareness Program (IAAP) training to all site computer users. Maintains IAAP training database.
8. Maintain records, logs, and files.
9. Performs other duties as required.

B. Supervision Received
Works under the direct supervision of the LAN manager and general supervision of the Communication Electronics Manager.
IV. WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
A. Physical Tasks
Exerts limited physical energy. May have to handle 20-30 pound loads on occasion.
B. Working Conditions
Office work environment. May work extended hours or weekends.
