In this dynamic role, you'll oversee daily pool safety protocols, provide outstanding member services, and ensure the aquatic environment remains clean, safe, and inviting. The Lifeguard & Member Services Manager serves as the primary leader for the pool’s personnel and member relations. This role focuses on staff supervision, event coordination for staff (i.e., staff training, coordination, meetings, parties, staffing needs and communication), and ensuring a high-quality experience for pool patrons and swim team families.

The pool season is from Memorial Day to Labor Day, but the chosen candidate for the Lifeguard & Member Services position can expect to begin in early April to begin staffing and training.

This position is not expected to be at the pool every day but is expected to be at the pool multiple times throughout the week and available to check-in as needed. They are also expected to be present at all special events for some portion of the event as decided upon by the board. These consist consist of the Season Opening Party (Memorial Day), July 4th, End of Season Party (Labor Day), and occasional night swims/movie nights

Job Responsibilities

* Staff Supervision: Recruit, train, and supervise the lifeguard team; manage scheduling and verify all staff certifications (CPR, AED, First Aid) are current.

* Member Liaison: Act as the main point of contact for members regarding medical needs, incident reporting, and rule enforcement.

* Main Liaison for Event Coordination with Board Representative: Liaison for lifeguards and during-pool hours clubhouse rentals and parties; coordinate logistics alongside the Pool Board regarding staffing needs for member events and movie nights and other events as needed.

* Concessions & Supplies: Order and maintain inventory for concessions and general clubhouse supplies (trash bags, paper products, etc.).

* Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with the Swim Team leadership to coordinate lane usage and meet schedules.

* Administrative: Update the Lifeguard Handbook and submit monthly staff schedules to the Pool Board.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

* Certification: American Red Cross Lifeguarding, CPR, AED, and First Aid (LGI/WSI preferred).

* Experience: 3–5 years of lifeguarding experience with prior supervisory or customer service roles.

* Communication: Strong interpersonal skills for settling disputes and communicating clear and effectively. Strong, clear and direct communication with the Board.

* Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand for long periods and respond quickly to emergencies.

* Reliability: High level of self-motivation to complete tasks without daily direct supervision.

* Conflict De-escalation: Ability to firmly but politely enforce pool rules with both children and adults, and the skill to mediate disputes between members regarding lane usage or guest policies.

* Personnel Management & Mentorship: Skill in coaching a young workforce (often high school or college students), including performance evaluations, accountability, and fostering a professional work culture.

* Emergency Response Leadership: Ability to remain calm under pressure and take command during medical emergencies, including clear communication with EMS and accurate incident reporting.

  • Lifeguard: 3 years (Preferred)


License/Certification:


  • Lifeguard Certification (Preferred)
  • Heartsaver CPR AED (AHA) (Preferred)
