Vice President, Marketing & Communications

PublishedPublished: 6/14/2022

Job Description

Job DescriptionDescription:

Full marketing function, external communications, and internal communications

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer

Team: Executive Leadership Team

Location: Nationwide; hybrid, with travel to operating companies and branches

Structure: Platform-level role across eight operating companies, multi-state field footprint

WHAT YOU OWN:

  • Marketing Strategy & Demand Generation
  • Own the marketing strategy and budget, tied directly to pipeline, bookings, and revenue targets set with the CEO and the executive team.
  • Build and run demand generation that produces qualified pipeline for a B2B enterprise sales motion, including account-based marketing against named targets in our priority verticals.
  • Partner with the VP of Sales to arm the team with sales enablement, positioning, and content that supports a transactional-to-strategic selling shift across methodologies like Challenger, and Value Selling.
  • Lead vertical go-to-market for target segments including multifamily, cold storage and logistics, auto retail, telecom towers, and self-storage.

Brand, Digital & Content

  • Own brand architecture across a roll-up: define how the IronSite master brand relates to acquired operating-company brands, and manage the transition without breaking customer trust or local market equity.
  • Run the full digital presence, including web, SEO, paid, social, and marketing automation, as measurable channels rather than vanity exercises.
  • Direct content, campaigns, events, and trade-show presence that build credibility in industrial and enterprise buying environments.

External Communications & PR

  • Own corporate communications, public relations, and thought leadership that position IronSite as the credible platform in security integration and access control.
  • Manage media, industry, and analyst relationships, and build the executive voice of the CEO and leadership team in the market.
  • Own crisis and issues communications, and coordinate messaging tied to acquisitions, expansion, and platform milestones.
  • Internal Communications & Change
  • Own internal communications across eight operating companies and a multi-state field organization, so that employees, from headquarters to technicians in the field, hear one clear message.
  • Lead change communications through integration, including all-hands, leadership cascades, and the everyday rhythms that carry culture during a period of real change.
  • Partner with HR and operations to communicate on the issues that matter to the workforce, and to close the gap between what leadership decides and what the field understands.

Marketing Operations & Analytics

  • Stand up the reporting, attribution, and analytics that let us hold marketing to the same standard as every other function in a PE-owned company.
  • Manage the marketing technology stack, agencies, and vendors with the same discipline you bring to internal spend.
  • Report performance to the CEO, the executive team, and, when needed, the board and Aurora Capital, in plain numbers.

Team Leadership

  • Build and lead the marketing and communications functions.
  • Operate as a full member of the executive team, contributing to platform strategy beyond your own function.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

This role carries clear, measurable ownership. We expect the following in the first year.

  • First 90 days: A marketing strategy and operating plan tied to pipeline and revenue, agreed with the CEO, live within the first 90 days.
  • By month six: A single, credible IronSite brand and message, resolved brand architecture across the operating companies, and a demand engine producing measurable, qualified pipeline.
  • By year one: Marketing accountable to numbers the executive team and board trust, an established external voice in our verticals, and internal communications the field actually reads and believes.

Requirements:

WHO YOU ARE

  • A marketing leader who has built a function, not just run campaigns, and who is comfortable owning the number.
  • Fluent in B2B enterprise and account-based marketing, ideally in industrial, construction, trades, services, or a comparable non-consumer environment.
  • A strong communicator who can carry both external voice and internal messaging, or who can lead it while building the team to execute it.
  • Experienced in private-equity or high-accountability environments, and comfortable operating against metrics, monthly readouts, and board expectations.
  • Effective in a roll-up or multi-brand setting, and steady through integration and change.
  • Direct, low on corporate filler, and biased toward outcomes over activity.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Ten-plus years in marketing leadership, with progressive scope up to a VP or head-of-marketing level.
  • A track record of building demand generation that drives measurable pipeline and revenue.
  • Demonstrated ownership of communications, either external, internal, or both.
  • B2B experience, ideally in a multi-site, multi-brand, or acquisitive company.

Preferred

  • Experience in a private-equity-backed platform or portfolio company.
  • Background in security, construction, building services, industrial, or a related field.
  • Experience managing brand consolidation through acquisition.
