Physical Therapist Assistant
Job Summary
Delivers physical therapy interventions under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. Helps patients regain mobility, strength and function through treatments established in the plan of care. Documents patient response and communicates progress to the supervising therapist.
Education & Experience
• Associate degree from an accredited physical therapist assistant program: Required
• Physical therapy clinical experience: Preferred
Licenses & Certifications
• Physical Therapist Assistant licensure or certification in the state of practice: Required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification: Required
Key Responsibilities
• Carry out treatment plans established by the supervising Physical Therapist.
• Instruct patients in therapeutic exercise, gait training and functional mobility.
• Apply modalities and manual techniques within scope of practice.
• Monitor patient response and report changes to the Physical Therapist.
• Educate patients and caregivers on home exercise programs and safety.
• Document treatments and progress accurately.
