Educational Requirements
- BSEE from an ABET accredited college/university
- Current Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
Responsibilities
Perform all aspects of design and design calculations for medium voltage collection systems for utility scale wind, solar, and energy storage projects (typically 34.5 kV).
- Review and apply interconnection requirements for utility-scale renewable projects (larger than 20 MW).
- Development of installation instructions and construction drawing details
- Development of technical specifications for Balance of Plant equipment
- Development of bills of materials for the electrical installations
- Ability to work closely with internal and external communications design, civil engineering, structural, geotechnical, and environmental staff to produce a well-coordinated and constructable design.
- Perform any required Calculations and Analysis to support these projects. Examples are:
- Underground cable thermal analysis
- Electrical loss analysis of conductors and transformers
- Short circuit analysis
- Effective grounding calculations
- Electrical grounding for safety (touch and step potentials)
- Fiber optic loss calculations
- Load flow and reactive power analysis
- Harmonics analysis
- Arc flash analysis
- Develop and/or check all required Technical Documentation, from conceptual design through IFC and construction support, to ensure compliance with project and client requirements.
Other Expectations:
- A PE License and active NCEES record is required.
- Keenly focused on production of high-quality work and supports continuous improvement and standardization efforts.
- Attending all client technical review meetings and act as client main point of contact for technical coordination. Scope/schedule/budget will be managed by others.
- Enjoys working in a fast-paced environment on multiple concurrent projects.
- Responsible for assisting with reviewing RFPs, cost estimating, and developing proposals.
Required Experience:
- 8-12 years related work experience in the field of medium voltage underground collection system design for utility-sized renewable energy systems (wind, solar, BESS)
- Strong familiarity with the NEC, National Electrical Safety Code, and relevant IEEE standards.
- Basic proficiency in use of AutoCAD and other design tools required for drawing production.
- Strong proficiency in the use of Cymcap (or similar) software for underground thermal analysis of power cables in various configurations.
- Strong proficiency in electrical power system analysis tools such as ETAP, SKM, ASPEN, Digsilent Power Factory or similar for performing short circuit, load flow, harmonics and arc flash analysis
- Basic familiarity with software for performing electric grounding analysis for safety (touch and step potential) such as ETAP, WinIGS or CDEGS
- Good knowledge of the industry and technology trends specific to wind turbine generators and wind collection design, as well as BESS and solar technologies.

Annual salary range:
$125k - $160k
This role is eligible for a hybrid schedule.
