This role focuses on operating braiding and wire cutting machines to produce wire harness assemblies according to detailed specifications and prints. You will perform both machine-based and manual cutting, assemble mechanical components using hand and light power tools, and ensure all products meet quality and torque requirements while working efficiently in a production environment.
Responsibilities
- Operate braiding machines to wrap wire harness assemblies in accordance with specifications and prints.
- Operate wire cutting machines to cut a variety of different wires to precise lengths.
- Complete approximately 100 different production jobs per day while maintaining accuracy and quality.
- Measure and cut wire by hand when only one or two pieces are needed, ensuring correct length and clean cuts.
- Assemble basic wire harnesses according to detailed specs and prints.
- Use a tape measure to verify and measure wire lengths and components accurately.
- Perform mechanical assembly work, including tightening components to specified torque requirements.
- Use hand tools and light power tools for crimping, fastening, and general assembly tasks.
- Handle and lift materials and products weighing up to 50 pounds safely and consistently.
- Assist with general production tasks such as packaging and organizing finished assemblies as needed.
- Follow all shop procedures and production guidelines to meet daily output and quality targets.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area, ensuring tools and equipment are stored and used safely.
Essential Skills
- Experience operating production machinery such as braiding machines and wire cutting equipment.
- Ability to perform mechanical assembly using hand tools and light power tools.
- Capability to lift and handle up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Proficiency in reading and using a tape measure accurately for measuring wire and components.
- Good vision to read wire branding and markings clearly.
- Comfort working in a production environment with multiple jobs and changing tasks throughout the day.
- Basic understanding of torque specifications and the ability to tighten components to required levels.
- Ability to use crimping tools for wiring and assembly tasks.
- Attention to detail to follow specs, prints, and measurements precisely.
- Reliability and consistency in maintaining a regular work schedule within the available shift window.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Background in general labor or production work.
- Experience as a machine operator or assembler in a manufacturing setting.
- Familiarity with wiring, crimping, and wire harness assembly processes.
- Ability to perform basic packaging tasks for finished products.
- Comfort using a variety of hand tools safely and efficiently.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn additional assembly and production processes.

Work Environment
The shop operates with a very flexible shift structure, open from 5:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., allowing you to set a consistent schedule that fits within this window based on operational needs. The atmosphere is casual and laid back, with a production-focused environment that uses hand tools, crimping tools, light power tools, and measuring devices such as tape measures to complete wire harness and mechanical assembly tasks.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Amery, WI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $15.00 - $18.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
