Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Maintenance Mechanic to join our team. You will be responsible for working on long belt conveyors, augers, elevator lifts, platform lifts, and general building maintenance. The role involves light fabrication on steel and performing basic welding, including Stick Welding and potentially MIG welding. You will also maintain forklifts and other bulk material handling equipment. You will work closely with a lead mechanic and receive thorough training in both preventative and reactive maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance and repairs on long belt conveyors, augers, and elevator lifts.
- Conduct general building maintenance.
- Engage in light fabrication work on steel structures.
- Perform basic welding, including Stick Welding; MIG welding experience is a plus.
- Maintain and repair forklifts and other bulk material handling equipment.
- Collaborate with the lead mechanic for thorough training in preventative and reactive maintenance tasks.
Essential Skills
- Experience with welding and fabrication.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems.
- Comfortable working with conveyor systems and belts.
- Proficiency in mechanical troubleshooting and repair.
- Willingness to climb ladders and work at heights.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with MIG welding is desirable.

Work Environment
The work environment is loud with milled grain in the air, and can be hot or cold depending on the weather. Working hours are from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with potential for voluntary overtime. The facility includes two warehouse/storage buildings and an elevator, and you will be exposed to elements as the buildings are relatively open.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Madison, Illinois.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $28.00/hr.
