Job Description

As a Repair Technician, you will be responsible for repairing electrical power supplies and magnetic components used in the aerospace industry. You will specifically work with aircraft Auxiliary Power Units (APUs), Generator Control Units (GCUs), and related systems. Your work will involve a variety of applications such as permanent magnet generators for engine OEM companies, aircraft APU's for fly-by-wire applications, and wound field generators for main or accessory power on aircraft and UAVs.

Responsibilities

  • Overhaul or repair components according to the Component Maintenance Manual (CMM), Service Bulletins, Technical Data Sheets (TDS), and relevant blueprints using hand tools.
  • Perform test functions as per Acceptance Test Procedures (ATPs) and determine the cause of failures.
  • Conduct teardowns, overhauls, and functional testing of various APU and GCU units and their components.
  • Ensure all repair work is performed according to procedures and correct document revisions.
  • Utilize problem-solving skills to diagnose equipment issues, decide on repair versus replacement, and consult with partners and inspectors.

Essential Skills

  • 1+ years of relevant experience in repairing mechanical and/or electrical components.
  • Ability to read basic blueprints and shop drawings.
  • Capability to pass FAA screening for placement in DOT drug pool.
  • Physical ability to lift and handle delicate equipment up to 40 pounds.
  • Proof of education (minimum High School Diploma or GED required).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Proficiency in using hand tools such as screwdrivers, wrenches, calipers, pliers, and micrometers.
  • Experience with mechanical, electrical, and voltage troubleshooting.

Work Environment

The work is conducted in a repair station area within an OEM that manufactures power generation and conversion equipment for commercial aircraft. The standard schedule is 6:30 am to 3:00 pm, Monday to Friday, with flexibility for earlier or later start times. The environment supports a collaborative and autonomous work style, where technicians can make informed decisions on repairs.

This is a Contract position based out of MILWAUKIE, OR.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $28.00/hr.
