Job Description

Golden X Plumbing Supply Inc. is looking for an experienced, knowledgeable Counter Sales Representative to join our team. We are a wholesale plumbing supply company serving professional plumbers, contractors, well companies, and other trade professionals.

We are looking for someone who knows the plumbing industry and can confidently work with contractors at the counter. This is not an entry-level position. The ideal candidate can identify products, understand plumbing applications, cross-reference brands and part numbers, and provide fast, accurate service to professional customers.

What You'll Do

Assist professional plumbers and contractors with counter sales and product selection
Identify plumbing, well, irrigation, water treatment, and related products
Cross-reference manufacturers' part numbers and find equivalent products
Provide accurate pricing and prepare customer orders
Answer product and application questions
Process phone, counter, and will-call orders
Help customers locate products and determine the correct materials for their jobs
Build strong relationships with contractors and repeat customers
Communicate with vendors and manufacturers when additional product information is needed
Pull, stage, and verify customer orders when necessary
Maintain an organized and professional counter area
Help customers find solutions when they need an alternative product or an item is unavailable
Work as part of a team to provide excellent customer service

The Experience We're Looking For

Required:

Previous experience in plumbing wholesale, plumbing supply, plumbing contracting, or a closely related trade
Strong knowledge of plumbing products and applications
Ability to identify fittings, valves, faucets, toilets, water heaters, pumps, pipe, PEX, copper, PVC, CPVC, well and irrigation products, and related materials
Ability to read and understand manufacturer part numbers
Comfortable working directly with professional plumbers and contractors
Strong customer-service and communication skills
Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a busy wholesale environment
Basic computer skills
Dependable and able to work as part of a team

Strongly Preferred:

Wholesale plumbing counter sales experience
Experience with well and pump products
Experience with irrigation and water treatment products
Knowledge of major plumbing manufacturers and their product lines
Experience cross-referencing products between manufacturers
Existing knowledge of contractor purchasing habits and job-site requirements

The Ideal Candidate

We're looking for someone who can hit the ground running.

You should be the type of person a plumber can walk up to and say:

"I need this part, but in a different size."

...and you know what they're talking about.

You should be comfortable looking at a manufacturer's part number, understanding what it is, finding an equivalent, and helping the customer get the correct product.

Product knowledge matters. We want someone who enjoys learning the plumbing industry, knows how products work, and takes pride in getting customers the right material the first time.
