Senior Data Integration & ETL Engineer

Location : One Day in a week on site

Duration : Long-term Contract

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Integration & ETL Engineer to support a large-scale data analytics and data interchange initiative for a government client. The ideal consultant will have deep experience building and maintaining complex data pipelines, integrating diverse data sources, and supporting analytics environments.

This role requires a strong foundation in ETL development, data modeling, SQL, and data interchange systems. Candidates must meet all minimum qualifications to be considered.

Minimum Qualifications (Required)

Candidates must meet all of the following:

✔ M1 — Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
    (Master’s or PhD may substitute)

✔ M2 — Data Interchange Systems (4+ years)

Experience developing and maintaining data interchange systems involving:

  • Flat files
  • Direct database connections
  • XML transactions
  • Multiple heterogeneous data sources

✔ M3 — ETL Tools (4+ years)

Hands-on experience with ETL tools such as:

  • Informatica, Talend, SSIS, DataStage, Pentaho
  • Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue, or similar

✔ M4 — Data Modeling (4+ years)

Experience designing:

  • Logical and physical data models
  • Dimensional models (star/snowflake)
  • Data warehouse schemas

✔ M5 — Analytics-Focused ETL (4+ years)

Experience developing ETL pipelines specifically to support:

  • Data analytics
  • BI environments
  • Data warehouses or analytical datasets

✔ M6 — SQL (4+ years)

Strong SQL experience including:

  • Complex joins
  • Stored procedures
  • Query optimization
  • Data transformations

Note: Candidates who do not meet all minimum qualifications cannot be considered.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)

P1 — Python scripting experience

P2 — Tableau Server Administration (1+ year)

P3 — Customer-facing experience in data validation, troubleshooting, or requirements gathering

P4 — Statistics coursework or 1+ year using statistics professionally

P5 — SQL or PL/SQL database development

P6 — ETL pipelines supporting Tableau analytics

P7 — ETL experience supporting a government data analytics program

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain ETL pipelines to support analytics and reporting
  • Integrate data from diverse sources including flat files, XML, and direct DB connections
  • Design and optimize data models for analytics
  • Collaborate with business users on data validation and requirements
  • Support data quality, data governance, and troubleshooting efforts
  • Work with BI teams to ensure data readiness for dashboards and reporting
