Job Summary

The Development Manager plays a central role in sustaining and growing the financial health of the Amputee Coalition, supporting its mission of serving the limb loss and limb difference community. This position is responsible for planning and executing fundraising strategies, cultivating donor relationships, managing campaigns and events, and supporting grant prospecting. The ideal candidate for this position is a self-starter who thrives in a collaborative, service-driven environment and is comfortable wearing many hats.

The Development Manager will supervise a part-time contract sales position and be expected to collaborate with various teams and all levels of staff in the organization.



Essential Functions

  • Develop and implement annual fundraising plans aligned with organizational goals.
  • Cultivate and steward relationships with donors, corporate supporters, and sponsors.
  • Plan and manage fundraising campaigns, including online giving and peer-to-peer efforts.
  • Organize and execute small- to mid-scale fundraising events.
  • Assist with grant prospecting.
  • Maintain accurate donor records and generate reports using database systems.
  • Collaborate with the CEO, Board, and senior team to identify funding opportunities and engage supporters.
  • Partner with the Communications team and/ or contractors to ensure the creation of fundraising materials and effective outreach supporting campaigns and events.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day activities of the sales team member

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Basic media skills
  • Knowledge of the philanthropic landscape
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace, Salesforce, and other similar systems
  • Presentation skills

Required Education, Certifications/ Licenses, Related Experience

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in nonprofit management, communications, or related field required.
  • 5 years of experience with fundraising, campaign development, and execution.
  • 5 years of experience with event planning and volunteer coordination.
  • 3-5 years of experience in staff supervision.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
  • Passion for the mission of the Amputee Coalition and commitment to community impact.

Physical Job Requirements

  • This position requires the ability to remain stationary for more than half the time.
  • The person in this position must be able to maneuver (lift, move, carry, slide, etc.) less than 15lbs.
  • This position requires the ability to spend more than half the time viewing computer monitors.

Travel Requirements

  • This position requires overnight domestic travel, less than 25% of the time.
  • Anticipated travel will be by car, air, and/or train
