Position Summary / Objective:

KMS Solutions is seeking a highly motivated individual to join a team of engineers and technicians providing engineering and technical support to the Ranges, Engineering, and Analysis Department at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) in Newport RI. This multi-disciplinary team is responsible for providing systems safety, environmental qualification testing, and range sustainment in support of undersea warfare systems, including unmanned and autonomous systems.

Essential functions:

  • Provide Calibration Engineering to evaluate test measurement systems for test accuracy ratio and calculation of probability of false acceptance.
  • Perform calibration and verification of instruments and test equipment.
  • Maintain calibration records and documentation.
  • Troubleshoot and repair instrumentation issues.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards.


Required education and experience:

  • Active Secret DoD clearance.
  • Associates’ Degree in a science, technology, engineering, or math field.
  • Ten (10) years’ experience with Test Diagnostic and Measurement Equipment, NAVSEA Metrology and Calibration requirements, and calibration procedure development
  • Five (5) years of NUWC Division Newport specific experience.


Preferred education and experience:

  • Active Secret DoD clearance.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a science, technology, engineering, or math field.
  • Fifteen (15) years’ experience with Test Diagnostic and Measurement Equipment, NAVSEA Metrology and Calibration requirements, and calibration procedure development
  • Ten (10) years of NUWC Division Newport specific experience.

Competencies:

  • Capable of working and problem solving in both independent and team environments.
  • Interpersonal skills to engage regularly with customers and provide technical assistance in developing calibration requirements measurements summaries.

Work authorization/security clearance requirements:

An active DoD Secret security clearance.

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment and industrial lab environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment and electronics and measurement lab equipment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Excellent listening skills are essential. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. Must be able to lift up to 30lbs.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a Part Time On Call position.

Telework:

  • No regularly scheduled telework.

Travel:

  • Ability to travel CONUS; potential to travel OCONUS
  • Travel up to 10% may be required.
